    I like how they use to dress back in the day. Brownstones never changed.

    Yeah, I totally agree. I just saw Gangs of New York for the first time the other day and I loved everything about the scenery and the people and whatnot.

    By the way, higher resolutions are available upon request. Please PM the requests though.

    Got some Weegee shots in there. NY always photographed well in b&w. Love the ships berthed on the Hudson.

    I did a double-take when I saw the celtic cross, too.


    That's the Jefferson Market Library (previously a courthouse and then a women's prison). Interesting to see the still-elevated tracks along 6th Ave. at that time.



    There was another thread a while ago in the OT&H section that was full of pictures of a lot of that early macro-construction of things like the Brooklyn Bridge and Empire State Building if anyone has a link. That stuff still blows my mind.

    Probably. That's definitely the Empire State Building in that picture.
