Question...The US Air Force needed 100 aircraft in 2009. Was there an aircraft selected?
A Brazilian AF friend of mine showed me some pictures/video of armor applied to the cockpit sides that was proof against 12.7mm/.50 cal fire. Pretty damned impressive!

Outstanding pictures, Andre Andrade Pinto. Thanks.
I haven't read the previous pages so no idea if someone's said it before or not, but the UK really needs to get into the armed Tucano game.
1) We have loadsa training Tucanos
2) Cheap CAS and COIN
3) Prop driven attack aircraft going off to give Terry the good news, very retro!

I can also see the armed BAe Hawks being of use, they had a role as local air defence fighters during the Cold War, can carry CRV7s, and would be cheaper to run than traditional attack aircraft like Harrier/Tornado whilst still being fast jets.
85,000 pounds per hour of flight sounds a bit overestimated to myself. something around 10,000 would be more logical, but I really don't know
How can the range for a Turcano be 2995 miles if a Typhoon is only 1840? That said they are a great looking piece of kit, any chance we will see any deployed to A'stan?
