Well Fox has as good as confirmed it today

Not liking these rumours of 7,000-8,000 personnel cut - sounds a bit like the entire Amphibious shipping to me.

I watched the Politics Show this morning. He did nothing of the sort...

I'll have to catch it on Iplayer, not seen it yet. PA must be making it up then as they're even quoting him.

If Fox said there would be a "gap" as that is quoted, then we're going to have the sight of carriers with nothing to carry. A very British farce.

i thought the talk was, if the planes aren't there, then it'll be used as a Helicopter carrier....but yea... to cut the aircraft before a new carrier is brought in is not a sensible choice...

which is why i want to hear the government actually say the words before i believe it... too much rubbish has been 'quoted' so far in this review

    *sigh*

Just bring on tuesday, so we can be done with it. For the record though, if we were to go for 12-18 months without any aircraft on the carriers in order for us to get fully catobar capability, with F35C and E2s etc, then I think I could conceivably live with it.

Even if they do change it to catobar, they could in theory still use the harrier until the F-35 comes on line, i know its not the best solution but its better than nothing.

The entire 'strategy' released today was complete bullcrap, imo, and solely released to give some validity to an unjustifiable sweeping castration of our ability to defend ourselves.

It's one thing to realign ourselved to 'pick up threats earlier', it's quite another to stip away our ability to do anything about it.

Meetings at 1500 in every airbase, naval establishment, barracks, and ship. It'll be the last wee attempt at pre-empting the ****-storm which is set to erupt from every news channel and paper. Tomorrow's going to be a long morning...

    Lucky you!

Anyone else just see the 10 o'clock news? The BBC are supremely confident that
    - Ark Royal (and presumably Lusty too) are to decommission ''within weeks or months''
    - Ocean to decommission very soon.
    - Frigates to go
    - Harriers to go
    - Heavy armour to go
    - At least one CVF to be catobar.

Apart from that last one, it's a catastrophe for this country. I hope to God their source is wrong.
