This is a great thread. I like those '80s pictures, it's nice to see how different the Mexican military uniforms looked like in the past compared to today.![]()

Hey, anyone here play Red Dead Redemption? Remember the Mexican Army in that game? Are their uniforms accurate? I wish they used the Mondragon rifle though, oh well.

i'm not familiar with the game, but if you have an image that i can see i will let you know if they're represented correctly
the comments on the print are not my own, but they do tell some truth.
all the specialty insignia remain the same, what you don't see is the newly introduce units as of the 1990's and to the present.![]()

Some more pictures of the uniforms. The tan uniform that the guy with the handlebar mustche is wearing seems to only be an undershirt for the black uniform.
BTW the games take place in 1909 and these are supposed to be Federal Army troops
the officers are a bit close to the reality but not al the way, one thing to say is that around that time there was many variations as per location, the farther away from mexico city the more relax it was for some commanders , but it was not the case for regular troops, even today you see generals commanding special forces that do not conform to the training of the ones they command as they are a class appart , long hair, small weapons and the privilege of having their chow made special for them and they also eat separated from their troops, so the possibilities of uniforms for this game are almost accurate, the other thing that you can do is look a my photos posted here as there are many examples of the same uniforms.
i hope i was able to help with your question, cheers!
