"A short look at the Contra-Guerillas of the Mexican Imperial Army. This was the most feared military unit of the 2nd Mexican Empire and was charged with fighting fire with fire, using the same brutal tactics employed by the republican bandits against them. They operated mostly in the east and along the border, an area which long had a reputation for being wild and lawless. They were highly effective and most officers had large prices on their heads by the republicans. This also meant that few, if any, could expect to be taken prisoner if caught. Their enemies called them "the Red Devils" and their commander, Colonel Dupin, was known as the "Hyena of Tamaulipas" after the Mexican state they often operated in."

Too bad Maximilian didn't bring back Miguel Miramon from Europe sooner. When he did it was already too late. Also, as the French army left Mexico they gave a lot of the weapons they couldn't take with them to the Republicans, instead of giving them to the Imperials.

They could by Mauser rifles that were built locally. Possibly Mondragons? The barrel looks like it's a Mondragon M1908. I think in picture with the Tigerstripe uniforms those are practice rifles.

GUESS what JOker I heard they might replace all PASGT by 2013 with newer ones. Just check pic from Tamaulipas (This helmet has only been seen in Michoacan)

Can't really tell what type that is. I don't think it's a PASGT, Lightweight, or one of those German ones the airborne use but it's hard to tel with the covering on. The Military seems to be using a bunch of different helmet types lately.

Aren't Mondragon's extremely rare?

Not really. It is rare to find one in civilian service, but according to the NRA their not terribly uncommon in Europe or Asia where they were exported. Anyways they started making them locally by the end of world war one so I don't think the government would simply get rid of all of them.

G3-SDN. Lisence built Mexican variant of the stadard G3. It's basically the same with some minor modifications done to the furniture and venting systems.

I lived with Indians for a long time and they werent that short. And they still are mostly indian these days too and in the current picture they dont look this short. These guys look like they're 4 feet. That MP5 looks huge.
