I assumed that it was because he was out for so long that the batteries died, but then, how is he not starving

Those batteries last forever. There were a lot of things about the hospital that was odd. Like why was the ceiling tiles all pulled down and the wires hanging?
    Maybe a grenade, who knows.

It's a TV show...they take liberty with a lot of things.

I believe some clocks in buildings like schools and hospitals actually run off the main power, not batteries. They are also automatically synchronized to match bell times.

Anyways, the show looks great. Think I found a new series to tune into every week. Surprisingly gory and brutal for TV.

Great pilot, looking forward to watching the rest. I understand that next season has already been scheduled!
Love the production quality, very stark, like the comic. I knew Darabont would do it right.

So WTF with Lori and Shane? So much for the subtle approach and backstory regarding their trip to Atlanta.
Might be a great lead-in to Karls reaction later in the story if he caught his mom and shane playing kissykissy.

Indeed, and I'm pleasantly surprised by the amount and quality of gore, considering it's for TV.

The opening "shot" really set the tone for the rest of the season.

Wonder if the twins will make it into the show?

    Read the first graphic novel.

Great British acting on display once again. The lead is quite well known on tv over here. I watched the pilot a few weeks ago and was blown away. Can't wait for more.

    British acting? Really?

    I didn't know that.

Pilot was really nice, some differences with the graphic novel but it is alright.

Yeah, he was in a comedy called Teachers and quite a few British programs including Strike Back.

He is that good in The Walking Dead that I spent the 1st 20 minutes thinking 'he is really familiar' and just could not get my head around it being him.

    In between episodes, there’s always ”We’re Alive”…
