I saw the Talking Dead after and someone brought up a good point when Shane was stabbing walkers in the head. He cuts is own hand with the same knife that he just offed a zombie with.... possible infection??

I wonder what the significance was of the zombie in the that field Shane saw. They wouldn't go to the trouble of filming it and showing it twice if it didn't mean something. At first I thought it was just to remind him of the world they live in and keep him mean and nuts. But they just got attacked by a dozen zombies; he didn't need a reminder of that. I think it was to show that he knows where it is. He might try and make use of it in the future. Like if he wanted to get rid of somebody without people knowing he had anything to do with it. Just speculating. I could be wrong.

Those scenes were symbolic because they depicted Shane just as emotionally lost and disconnected as any walker.

He saved Shane because even though Shane just tried to kill him. Rick still has humanity left in him and when he saw the two dead zombie cops on the ground, it reminded him of himself and Shane.

My 2 cents anyways.

x2, Bacon. Rick was going to high-tail it with the kid from the gang, until he saw the two dead zombie cops lying there. Humanity got the best of him. From what I saw of next week's sneak preview, Shane is still going to be a conniving back-stabber.
