The last episode will be on this friday (u.k. and irish t.v.)so far I like the show, not a fan of Zombies infact they scare the crap out of me..But I like the way the people are just trying to survive day to day.

Depends on the zombie "type". If they are truely reanimated corpses, as suggested in the last episode, than only the reptile/hind brain that controls the baser instincts is revived...so feeding might only be a reflex, and not neccearily a requirement for continued existance.

In Max Brook's books, there are tales of zombies with distended and torn bellies that have been filled to over capacity with rotting flesh...hence the smell, because the solanium virus makes the entire zombie corpse poisonous and kills all bacteria that would normally decompose a corpse.

Yeah, too much useless info on the subject.

Something I was wondering is, will the walkers submerge themselves in ponds and rivers, like Brooks' zombies, to spring up out of the water suddenly, ambushing the living, who thought their area had been cleared of the undead? Even the sea floors were swarming with zombies, necessitating the dangerous and difficult campaign to eradicate them at these depths.
I don't know how hard it would be for a civilian to hop into the seat of an APC and try to start it up and drive it. I imagine it's not as easy as it looks. Plus you'll need diesel fuel. But that's a subject for another thread.

Totally agree. It's a good show. Only nincompoops don't get it.

Ep. 6 turned out pretty neat IMO...they didnt screw everything up with the CDC and explanations, and other than that shower **** sequence and some cringeworthy Dale - Andrea moments it all worked fine.

You guys complain about training grenades and chairs..how about three axes vs. rocket launcher resistant steel door? Seems like all the bright people are either into brains and shuffling or went up with the CDC.

7 scenes from The Walking Dead comic that should have been in the show

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us
The first season of The Walking Dead is over, but we can't help feeling a bit... disappointed. While we loved the series, it still felt like something was missing. Here are some scenes from the comic we wanted to see. Spoilers for the first season of The Walking Dead, plus the comic book, below.
Let me state this outright, I do not think that Walking Dead is a bad show. In fact, I stand by my past praise for this series and continue to lob compliments at showrunner Frank Darrabont. But when all was said and done, we still ended the first season feeling like it needed something else. The "it factor" that kept me up for two straight nights pouring over the pages of Robert Kirkman's comic book was almost completely absent from the second half of the first season. So I cracked open Kirkman's seminal work one more time, to try and find what was missing from the show - and this is what I came up with. ...

Thanks Chulo, io9 is pretty spot-on with their assessment.

The "it factor" that kept me up for two straight nights pouring over the pages of Robert Kirkman's comic book was almost completely absent from the second half of the first season.
This can't be emphasized enough, its not a matter of appeasing the comic readers but giving the TV viewers what we've been enjoying for a while. It sets the series apart from just another entry in the genre.

Really, really enjoyed the first few episodes. This last one was really bad, the acting was terrible, among other things. It looked like sloppy work, the entire episode shot in one day or something. Hopefully, they'll get the show back on track again.

wont happen. the source material is human drama centric..the zombies and the world are backdroups..hell in the comics there was like 4 to 5 issues where zombies didnt play any roll (the prison) that may take place in the second season. So jump now because the series and the book are not about the zombies.

The story focuses on this small group, so you don't have much of a picture about what is happening elsewhere.
I have not read the graphic novels so I don't know how closely it tracks.
I am looking forward to the next season.
Question - how long can the Zombies survive without eating? It would seem at some point many would cease to function due to lack of food
Not sure, the comics never answered any of that. But in the pilot eps when zombies didnt think they were getting a meal..no humans or human sounds around or noise , they just sat around. only the urge to eat or the possibilty made them move.

If the show was just zombies eating people it would get stupid and boring fast. It's the characters and the human element that makes the show good and interesting. Excellent show..looking foward to the next season.
