mace is nice but it does have its limits, how does it function in rain? or on windy days?

I just found a fresh pile of bear crap right at the end of my driveway, where it meets the road. I must have had a visitor late last night. I have a bumper crop of salmon berries along the driveway this year. I need to hit D1ck's or Cabela's tomorrow and get a game camera to set up and see what time and how many are coming through.

^ Post any vids you get!
My wife came upon a grizzly while picking berries in NorCal as a kid. I have never seen one myself in all the time I have spent in the woods growing up. Not sure I'd like to.

I noticed the coyotes were molting around my house today, guess it's the heat. Big piles of hair and sh!t everywhere.

I may as well be. I have seen a bobcat, a black bear, owls, possums, skunks, squirrels, rabbits and deer in my backyard. My landlord spotted a coyote here. I live in the foothills of the Cascades, east of Seattle. All of these critters are indigenous to the area. Grizzly were too 100+ years ago, but fortunately they are all gone.

What's the best way to keep smaller annoying animals like racoons and squirrels from your berry's?

Electric netting. It is like an electric fence, but is made from synthetic mesh with conductive material running in one direction. That hooked up to a small, inexpensive fence charger will educate the vermin.
