    anyway the "threat" is not from argentina ....its from the other side.

    On a serious note, they are probably thinking of Peru even though Chile is already ages ahead of any neighbor in defense. The Chilean Armed Forces are one of the best equipped, if not the best, in Latin America...

    More systems that use modified version of A-A missiles with all the drawbacks of launching them from the ground...

    Well, I guess its cheaper than purposely built ADS like an S300 or a Patriot.

    4 NASAMSII batteries was deployed in Washington DC during the inauguration of President George Bush in 2005, so it obviously have its strengths too.

    Well, makes sense against any suicide airliner or private airplane, but the main air defense of the US still seems to be largely depedant on fighter jets,, I believe.

    At the time i think it was regarded as the best ground system of its size against missiles.
