I don't have either of the 2 you specified but I do have one of these
http://www.highspeedgearinc.com/holster.htm - $85.00 it's an excellent holster IMHO, doesn't ride up, and is built to the hilt

I need to get a good reliable holster. However, I have narrowed the choices down to the Safariland (6004 SLS tactical) holster and the Blackhawk (Omega VI Assualt) holster. Anyone with real experiance with these please give me some pros/cons. Thanks, much appreciated.

I use the Safariland. The rolling lock is the bee's knees!Originally Posted by msilva111
I don't play airsoft but if that's what you want it for you probably should go with something cheaper.
High Speed Gear is worth all the bucks

My experience with the Omega VI is that it is a good rig when new. I've seen broken-in ones (2-3 yrs old) where the weapon came toppling out as the wearer was running and had to assume a kneeling position or in a foot pursuit. I do not like the nlyon/velcro thumbeak. The Airborne model with the extra retention strap around the butt would stop that, but it would slow your draw if you had it strapped in and to draw in a hurry (your long gun goes down, etc.)
I've had my 6004 for about 3 yrs now. The one I had before I had for 4. (Had to switch got a SIG 229 to replace my 228). It is a great rig. Solid, steady, fast. It is pricey. But if you are using it for REAL work, well what's a hundred or so bucks to make sure you go home at night?
I have to agree with the others on the High Speed Gear Inc. (HSGI) holster. I got one for my SIG 228 (M-11 Pistol) in Gene's new Khaki color. The new khaki blends in with the BDU and DCU uniforms. The rig rides very well and can be fitted for four mag pouches at no extra charge. I also use Blackhawks coiled retention lanyard with the holster. You will never go wrong with this set-up.
A friend of mine in 19th Group used a HSGI Wasatch Chest Rig in A-stan and my office partner knows a guy in Blackwater that used the Wasatch also in Iraq. They both gave Gene at HSGI high ratings for his gear.
At one time G-Code holsters used Gene's drop leg platform for thier SOC holster. This says alot for them if other companies use his platform.
For my money I would get the HSGI drop leg holster, give Gene a call at 1-877-301-2116 and he can answer all you questions before placing the order.
They are botg good products! But a con of the Safariland is that you can use it for only one weapon model and the Blackhawk fits f.e. Sig, Glock,...
Thanks for all the input guys. Much thanks. I think I will going for the Safariland, However I will take a good long look at the HSGI holster. I need a holster that will keep it locked in when I have to make mad dashes from A to B. And from what I have read elsewhere the locking system on the SL is next to perfect. Anyways, thanks again guys.![]()

I've used both extensively. The Blackhawk will need time to break-in. It also needs something to pull it away from your leg to give you better access. The Safariland is a little less comfortable IMO. The Safariland will cause yout to modify your draw sequence a bit. Nothing that a few thousande practice draws can't fix. My vote, Safariland.
you want something that doesnt flop around on your leg when you run so it must sit firm. adjustable thumb break, check that all clips and velcro is durable
