    Default Filthy is almost generous

The Commonwealth Games Federation head has demanded the Indian government take immediate steps to improve conditions at the athletes' village in Delhi.

Team delegates have described the accommodation as filthy, unhygienic and unfit for human habitation.

But organisers of the event, which runs from 3 to 14 October, said the facilities would be excellent.

England and Scotland's Commonwealth Games teams are concerned the poor quality of the athletes village in Delhi may put the whole event in doubt.

Scottish officials found their original accommodation to be "unsafe and unfit for human habitation".

England are "optimistic" they will compete but say urgent work is needed before the Games begin on 3 October.

It was meant to be Delhi's moment of glory.

By staging the Commonwealth Games successfully in its capital, India wanted to announce to the world that it was an emerging superpower.

But the run-up to the Games has been a huge public relations disaster.

Delhi was told it would be "world-class" by 2010.

But the Games start in just over a month and the city is nowhere near ready.

You could have stuck with the actual headline which says "Delhi Games village 'unfit for athletes'"

Why manufacture your own headline "Filthy is generous" ?

The BBC title was 'Delhi Games village 'unfit for athletes' and nowhere in any of the articles did I find the phrase "Filthy is almost generous'
The general consensus is post the article title instead of your own opinion on what it should be. Helps prevent these little spats

Well, at least India gets to host them.

Corrupt, it is there, but as a testimonial.

Fair enough I stand corrected. Still its better to use the title. Especially on issues that are laible to cause a flame-war.

    Are the Delhi Games doomed?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereport...es_doomed.html

Are the Delhi Commonwealth Games doomed? After creaky stadiums, leaky pools and allegations of dodgy deals come complaints from visiting teams that the athletes' village on the outskirts of the capital is filthy and "unfit for human habitation". Apparently more than half of the 34 residential towers at the village are still far from complete; and a quarter of the rooms for one of the visiting teams are flooded.

This is the same village that Delhi organising committee chief Suresh Kalmadi had praised recently as better than the one at the Beijing Olympics.... Except, critics say, the toilets in Delhi are dirty and the rooms waterlogged and stacked with debris, among other problems.
