I watched the first two periods of the Wings - Sharks game and couldn't stand it anymore. I couldn't care less about both teams.
As long as any Canadian team wins, I'm a happy camper. One last hope.
It's just completely different thing to watch some random team made of random players fight another random team only for money, than watching your country fighting to the top of other countries.
It's been that way for years.
Those 30 random NHL teams made of randoms players that would school all the worlds international teams save 2 or 3 countries. International hockey suffers because the 3 giants in the sport dominate the playing field because Canada the US and Russia have a huge talent pool to choose from. With Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic coming close. The parity is not there, it's usually the same set of teams in single elimination games which is not enough to determine who is the better team in Ice Hockey IMO. In terms of better hockey nothing beats the Stanley cup playoffs. To me there is no comparison if Canada wins another gold medal in the world championship or even Olympics, what I really want to see is my favorite teams (Canucks/Devils) win the Stanley cup.
And I'm sure you as a Fin love nothing more than an international matchup against Sweden. That however doesnt make the quality of hockey any better, you just have more invested in it emotionally, which is totally understandable since all the NHL games are on at bizzare times and you don't live near any NHL city.
The only fact in what we will agree is that Europe=IHC, North America=NHL. So start flame USA vs Europe who is better?!

I love this time of year. WC in the afternoon and playoffs in the night. I enjoy both.

On a side note: in the FIN-GER game 8 / 8 goals in the main game time, I was either in the kitchen, or going there. At FIN-SVK game, my gf was in the kitchen at both finnish goals. At this game, I was in the kitchen at both finnish goals.
