thing is even in the 80's some of the gobby little sh*ts would have goten the kickings they deserve from the staff/other recruits for their behaviour.

In the early nineties too, when I was in.
A major beasting...usually involving bumpering the ceiling in the guardroom .Any refusal would result in a dig and/or orders.
