As the old Australian thread seems to have died a death, I thought I would try and get a new one going as there are so many superb photos around.
This thread is only for the modern Australian Defence Force and is not meant to cover the world wars or Vietnam; please stick to today’s ADF and its Operations and Exercises.

Amphibious Assault - Live fire
Soldiers from B Company, 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment took part in a mechanised assault at Kaneohe Bay to wrap up the amphibious evolution of RIMPAC 2010. The Australians came ashore from USS Cleveland before travelling to the range in Amphibious Assault Vehicles driven by the US Marine Corps.
Airborne Combat Team Parachute Insertion
The Airborne combat team from 3RAR made a spectacular parachute insertion into the Combined Arms Training Activity near Charters Towers on September 6. Two Globemasters from 36 Sqn at RAAF Amberley and two Hercules from 37 Sqn at RAAF Richmond were used to deliver the troops and their eqipment.
Over 200 paratroopers did the jump from 1000ft and then took part in a realistic non-combatant evacuation scenario conducted by 3 Bde. Lt-Col Trent Scott CO 3RAR said it was the first time the Globemaster, which was the latest purchase for the RAAF, had been involved in a mass parachute drop.
"The parachute insertion was only the means to get here and it allowed us to get here rapidly with many numbers," Lt-Col Scott said.

Some of the Army’s most advanced weapon systems were displayed in a fire power demonstration during the 3rd Brigade’s Combined Arms Training Activity.
A combined arms battle group engaged targets by day and night with mortars, artillery, cavalry, helicopters and Royal Australian Air Force fighter aircraft at the Townsville Field Training Area on September 9.
The 2nd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment’s Combat Team Bravo manned the defensive position for the display and was supported by B Squadron 3rd/4th Cavalry Regiment in protected mobility vehicles.

Australian Army Host Fire Power Demonstration

Australian Artillery - Afghanistan

Black Hawk helicopters fly past Mount Ramelau in East Timor
The Black Hawk S70A-9s are operated by the Timor Leste Aviation Group (TLAG) and provide support to the International Stabilisation Force for the movement of troops, supplies and equipment to all areas of East Timor as well as assisting with aero-medical evacuations.
Soldiers train for Close Quarters Battle on OP ASTUTE
Australian Soldiers from Recon Platoon, 5th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment, during CQB training. This is being conducted to maintain basic infantry skills and to boost soldier confidence and proficiency when operating at short ranges in confined areas. The soldiers are deployed to East Timor as part of Operation ASTUTE.
