^ The Sparrow force was it?, I know the guy Mr Lions (not sure spelling for name correctly) for many years until he passed away few years back, He was in the Sparrow force that was stranded in Timor he told me that he sneaked into Japanese camp to plant explosive under the hut whatever the target were but he planted under the wrong hut and blew up the mess hut while the Japanese were eating, Japanese troops were hunting them for months after the incident.

Most of Sparrow force was wrapped up pretty quickly in Dutch Timor once the Japanese invaded. It was really only the 2/2 Commando boys in Portuguese Timor who stayed around, along with a few of the other part of the force that broke away when the word of surrender went around. They were later reinforced by 2/4 Commando and a smaller Z special force component.

Defence said that mission occurred in northwestern Kandahar Province late March and involved members of the Afghan National Security Force (ANSF) and Australian Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) with insurgents fighting back to protect their drugs operation.

In September 1942, Sparrow Force was reinforced by the Australian 2/4th Independent Company (Lancer Force). With the exception of a few officers, Sparrow Force was evacuated to Australia on 11–12 December.
Exercise STURT’S GAUNTLET was a combined arms demonstration for the Australian Command and Staff College conducted by elements of 1st Brigade, along with members of the 16th Air Land Regiment from Woodside Barracks.
The exercise aimed to showcase how the Australian Army might work together in an hybrid threat scenario, and involved a Mechanised Platoon mounted in M113 armored personnel carriers, an M1 Abrams Tank and an Engineer Section working together to neutralize an enemy position. A M777 155mm Howitzer and mortar section provided Indirect Fire Support, with elements from 16th Air Land Regiment providing cover from an air attack and facilitating a link to intelligence aircraft from the RAAF.
