^ The Sparrow force was it?, I know the guy Mr Lions (not sure spelling for name correctly) for many years until he passed away few years back, He was in the Sparrow force that was stranded in Timor he told me that he sneaked into Japanese camp to plant explosive under the hut whatever the target were but he planted under the wrong hut and blew up the mess hut while the Japanese were eating, Japanese troops were hunting them for months after the incident.

In one of the most inhospitable places on earth the Australian Air Force will attempt to build an airfield in 36 hours. This is Impossible Airfield.

Most of Sparrow force was wrapped up pretty quickly in Dutch Timor once the Japanese invaded. It was really only the 2/2 Commando boys in Portuguese Timor who stayed around, along with a few of the other part of the force that broke away when the word of surrender went around. They were later reinforced by 2/4 Commando and a smaller Z special force component.

Sparrow force was active till Sept 1942 when they got out of Timor iirc.

Both docus are actually very similar - with Real Top Guns, they added a couple of episodes on the F-111.

Digger wounded in Afghani drug raid

AN Australian special forces soldier has been shot and wounded in an operation against an insurgent drug laboratory.

Defence said that mission occurred in northwestern Kandahar Province late March and involved members of the Afghan National Security Force (ANSF) and Australian Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) with insurgents fighting back to protect their drugs operation.

    Default Exercise Sturt’s Gauntlet

Exercise STURT’S GAUNTLET was a combined arms demonstration for the Australian Command and Staff College conducted by elements of 1st Brigade, along with members of the 16th Air Land Regiment from Woodside Barracks.

The exercise aimed to showcase how the Australian Army might work together in an hybrid threat scenario, and involved a Mechanised Platoon mounted in M113 armored personnel carriers, an M1 Abrams Tank and an Engineer Section working together to neutralize an enemy position. A M777 155mm Howitzer and mortar section provided Indirect Fire Support, with elements from 16th Air Land Regiment providing cover from an air attack and facilitating a link to intelligence aircraft from the RAAF.
