    Default SA80A1 magazines

Can the magazines for the SA80A1 be used with any other weapons? What about the SA80A2?

The SA80A2 magazine certainly differs from the SA80A1 mag., but I'm not sure if they are interchangeable. The MoD has disposed of a shed-load of "A1" mags which would suggest they are not - but presumably these will still be required for the cadet rifle which I understand will not be up-dated owing to its non-automatic action etc.

The old Colt and Radway Green mags for the A1 will fit most if not all M16 derivants (& the Minimi). The A2 mags won't. The new H&K mags only fit the A2.

That's quite a savvy engineering move on H&K's part to ensure a steady stream of revenue from new mags

Assuming the old magazine design and/or construction DIDN'T impair performance and were NOT part of the problems H&K "engineered out" of the SA80, I'm surprised MOD didn't contract for the updated rifle to accept old, existing stock magazines....surely a costly endeavour not to I would think.....as well as yet another headache for the Loggies.

A guy in my section recently returned from the British Army Shooting Competition held last month.

He had a lot of nice things to say about the SA80 SUSAT sight.

He also mentioned a bit of cheeky behavior on the part of some participants in the competition...including the use of match grade ammunition instead of service issue rounds.....

The Radway Green mags (the majority) were crap and were certainly part of the A1's reliability problems. The Colt mags were floating around from our old stocks of M16's. Personally I never had any problems with them in either weapon. H&K have redesigned the mag housing, hence the non-compatabilty. It works better, but I have my reservations about our inability to use US mags in the A2.

My personal favorite is, you're not cheating if you don't get caught

The mags I have are Royal Ordnance and as of yet I've not had any problems in my Bushy.

I don't give a **** about your rights of Freedom of Speech.
You're turning almost any thread that remotely mentions the British into an insult. I don't f***ing care if it's your opinion, we don't want your opinion since it's total bollecks!
