Default B-52 Cockpit and Gunner images

I thought some of the members may find these images interesting. The cockpit image (H model) was posted on MP earlier in 2010, but I was unable to locate it using the MP search engine.

I sent the H model image to my older Brother, who had 183 combat missions during Vietnam as a Tailgunner. He told me from what he could see in the picture that it really hadn't changed since he was last in one (74-75). He added descriptions, and also included a picture, and descriptions of D model gunner position, and a G model simulator. I hope they can be viewed correctly when posted, as this is my first attempt doing so.

Very cool pictures. I crawled around in the tail gun position of the B-52D on display at the former Castle AFB and it's amazing just how cramped it is. Kudos to your brother on having the brass balls that job required!

Such a great huge aircraft with almost as much work-space as a Cessna.

Although I do not have first hand knowledge of the Thunderstorm lamps, I would guess they became active if the aircraft was struck by lightning and lost electrical power in the cabin. Perhaps a member with some insight of B-52's might be able to clarify this.

Also, if you right click on the image, and choose "open link in new window",(Windows 7) you can zoom in to get a better view, and read the descriptions more easily.

I meant to state that the D model, the Gunner sat under the tail of the aircraft, and the G model the Gunner was forward with the rest of the crew. The latest model H, has no tailgun. My Brother told me the 4 - .50's converged at 900 yards.

Thank you. Must be very lonely being a D gunner.
