    Default Italy's Anti-Roma Crackdown

"These are dark-skinned people, not Europeans like you and me," said Riccardo De Corato, who is Milan's vice mayor from Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's ruling party.

It's ironic that the same things were said of Italian immigrants a century ago in America.

    Very shameful.

Both ethnic groups allegedly fast in stealing and with knives, as NYPD indicated to their Officers, they even has a special Italian detective squad - unreal...

yes, but it's ven true that most voters, from left and right, would please the expulsion of romas...

in the past the same thing has been said about romanians and albanians, which today are probably the best integrated groups...

while romas will never be integrated...sooner or later the government will be forced to take a decision about them, they don't woek, their childern don't go to school, they are involved in every sort of criminal activity...

there are some limited crime problems with this groups left...they are integrated at a high level as there is no such language barrier as with for example arabs or chinese, which is very helpful in integretain them...further they are not fixed with religions, as for example northafricans, which in most cases don't accept orders from women at work and similar things...

The difference with other ethnic groups is the Romani are nomads, and can hardly be considered immigrants like the Romanians or the Albanians.

I dotn see a problem if they want to integrate into society and work and not cause trouble like the countless other immigrants in Italy. Why is it there should always be an exception for ROMA .. who sit in squallor camps .. causing trouble .. having no intention of doing anything other then getting wasted and commiting crime.

I hope Italy has a law like france where if they didnt find or attempt to work they should be deported. Being an EU citizen doesnt give you the right to go trash other ppls countries.

I have excellent experiences of interacting with our pikey brethren. You know, Hitlers don't do EU Roma laws, but if they did...

We have some Roma/Gypsie families in Portland, and they are a nuisance.

Isn't it odd that the Roma have no claims on territory, have never started a war, are far from homogeneous and produce few historical figures be the most victimized, hated people in Europe.
