I say it was about time for FemShep to get a "real" face. The pre-designed faces of the Mass Effect universe - both Sheps, your henchmen, that is, and characters like Anderson and so on - look fantastic but the generic faces... not so much.
Every character there has a movie star' face anyway, even the baddies.
