Let's not be so demanding and spoilt.
But what category is it? It pretends to be largely a 3rd person shooter/action with some RPG elements in it. Well it is mediocre at best in the former. The gunfighting feel sterile, standard and unoriginal, every encounter with the enemy is the same. If it weren't for cool graphics/settings/story this game wouldn't be worth mentioning. Same thing with RDR, but that was even worse.
I'm personally looking forward to games like Dead Space 2, Batman AC much more than this, because their gameplay is light years ahead. But i'll probably play it anyway because I kinda like the story and setting.
Also if the new DeusEx is half as good as it looks from the trailers, it will be way more awesome than this.

Eh, not hating; just pointing out a valid criticism. And Bioware seems to be a company that listens to its audience. Though many of the things put into ME2 became something of a "be careful what you wish for" (planet scanning, loading screens, overdoing the shooter part, etc).
In the end, gameplay is not the primary reason I play Mass Effect. Story and mythology is, which both excelled at so far.

Mass effect 1&2 were good games, end of story. The perfect game doesnt exist and will probably never will. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you will start enjoying the good games that are out there.
If you liked ME2, that's great. I'm happy for you. Just stating my own subjective opinion that I didn't like it.

    I like ME1 better too.
In ME2 i really missed the ability to stroll around freely in the huge citadel... In ME2 the citadel was very "mehhh"

One thing I am less-than-enthused about is the potential addition of multiplayer (yeah, yeah, rumor, but still).

Why the hell Mass Effect needs a multiplayer escapes me. They should focus on single player campaign because that is the reason this games sells. There are enough multiplayer games out there with better graphics and features than any ME games, there is no need for another one.

EA's vision on the gaming market. They no longer want to make games that only feature a singleplayer. Though it doesn't necessarily mean multiplayer, every game has to have at least some online functionality.

Can't wait for ME3. Since there weren't too many references to the decisions made in ME1, I guesing they'll come back bigtime in ME3.

Lair of the shadow Broker was well worth my $15ish.

    My Predictions

    - The rachni, if you saved the queen, will help you

    - If Wrex is alive and you helped him alot, the Krogan will be slightly more unified and will help you

    - Shadow Broker DLC spoiler: Since she's the new Shadow Broker then you'll have to chose your side between her and Illusive man

    - If some of your crew died in ME2, they\ll probably be replacement members you can recruit, spoiler: Like Chief Bailey and others in the Dossiers in the Lair of the Shadow Broker

    - You'll see Kaidan/Ash alot more since they were on that secret mission in ME2

I really like the background, the trailers, story, etc... but I don't like the gameplay.

One thing i noticed and it looked kind of funny were the eyes of the sniper guy. He looks like a inbred retard. I seriously hope they change his face.
