While it definitely wasn't perfect, the vastness of those worlds gave you the feeling of being on an alien planet, not having the same small FPS map again with a different nice scenery.
And you could set up many different tactics for those Geth outposts like leaving Ash or Garrus as a Sniper and going in yourself or vice versa.
Or simply jumping into the thing with the mako and baling out and finishing off anything that moves.

It was too generic but at least it was generic because it was ambitious and suffered from lack of time, not because of pandering to the same crowd of semi-retarded 14 year old kids that are EAs target group
I'm replaying ME1 right now, and Mako drops are my favorite part. Genericness is not an issue when on each planet you see something differently spectacular, like falling moon or meteor shower from a comet' tail.

But it's too easy, and that's what it bores. Geth outposts? Just blast them all with a main gun.. Not fun and tedious.

Yeah, the Mako played a big role in the immersion... in ME1, it actually felt like you were on a planet... places like Noveria and Feros... simply great.

In ME2+3, it's always drop in by shuttle -> corridors -> extraction by shuttle.

It's not like Rage had a fantastic trilogy and awesome storytelling to being with.

I just found out what the original ending and plot twist should have been. If you are interested watch this guy's vid, its great:

*Go to 3:05 for the original story concept*

Its pretty obvious that EA rushed the whole game now.

    That guy is 100% right.

The problem with today is, is that people like him aren't writing and developing the games anymore. It has become big business with people who know **** all about gaming, developing and writing only with the big money on their minds. This is why games were so much better back in the day, cause it was still real gamers, with the passion making them, not for the money, but for the fun to be had.

Correct. And it's really funny how those people ( in big business that is video games) start yelling oh it's art. No it's not.

And to add insult to injury (and to satisfy my masochistic streak) I am reading Bioware's replies.

Seriously, do these guys believe that their players are 13 year old boys? Or completely retarded?

I hate that stupid "corporate speech" they use. "We hear you and take everything under consideration" stuff, while STILL releasing day 1 DLC.
