I know you guys probably hate being thumped in the head by the indoctrination theory, but here is an updated video with more evidence:

Apparently, this was posted by one of the writers on one of the forums. I don't have a definite link, but it does not look fake, and working in the game industry - this stuff does actually happen.

    Would explain the crappy ending.

Mass Effect 3 row prompts change to add 'further closure'

Gamers unhappy with the endings of Mass Effect 3 will get "further closure" thanks to new added content, developer Bioware has announced.

Large numbers of fans had complained that the finale to the popular saga did not live up expectations.

The company said they would provide a number of "game content initiatives" to clarify aspects of the game's plotline.

And go figure what does that mean.

Three games, 140 hours of invested time, carefully rethinking every choice that could be made, starting heartwarming relationships in part 1 - avoiding them in part 2, help to build a better universe – two times and my reward… I’m allowed to [Spoiler ->] kill my character… Well…

    [Spoiler ->]Sometimes a heroic death is not enough… [<-Spoiler]

The endgame doesn't have that. I wanted to see banshees attacking you, and then have asari gunships zoom in and blow them away. I wanted to see a wave of rachni ravagers come around a corner only to be met by a wall of krogan roaring a battle cry. Here's the horror the Reapers inflicted upon each race, and here's the army that you, Commander Shepard, made out of every race in the galaxy to fight them.
Fvvvvck.. THIS is what I wanted. Your combined armada and armies kicking reaper and indoctrinated ass(obviously the game still hinges on what you, as Sheperd, do, but still..)

If you open your birthday present and find a turd in a box, that is a problem. It really doesn't matter if you subsequently receive a lot of clarity and explanation about who gave you the turd, and why. You've still, after all possible exposition, got a turd in a box.

After the end of Mass Effect 3 is changed to something that makes sense and relates coherently to the rest of the trilogy's story, I'll be happy to pay attention to the clarifying explanation of how a talented team of game designers dropped a turd into the box, but until then the main focus should be the fact that we don't want the turd.

Also, Casey needs to be aware that if the "game content initiatives" amount to little more than a shiny coat of polish for the turd, they will not be well received. Again, the team needs to devote themselves to turd removal, before any other efforts have a chance of meeting a warm reception.
Saw this on Bioware's forums. I'm laughing so much right now.

Even if this is true it basically means they gave us a game without a real end and will now be trying to sell it via DLC, which is also a scandal! A shame that this theory is now my only hope...

Precedent? So when Bethseda released BoS DLC for F3 it was different. Or when Epilogue DLC was released for Prince of Persia it was once again, something completely different from today. Midgets.

Read Erik Kain's rebuttal on Forbes. It really shows up Moriarty and his ilk for what hypocrites they are.

In which case, they should have seen things from miles away that the way that the ending cutscenes were handled was anything but creative.
Let's say that there is not problem plot-wise with the three options that you were given: Would it be so hard to make three (at the very least) vastly different cutscenes for those choices instead of a simple palette swap? Would it be so hard to see every which one of your teammates to see how they are doing? And would it be so hard to tack on a couple extra minutes to see the ramifications of the respective choices in galactic politics?
This was not pragmatic exercise of creative vision; it was laziness, pure and simple.

Mass Effect story has too many "butterflies" to squash to lead to inevitable fail. Older games deal with this using simple "Game Over" screen, while this epitome of a scripting fail prolongs the agony till the ghostly boy scene.
Of course much of the little choices made would have been impractical to place in-game due to logistics. But several of the big ones (notably dealing with the Geth and Rachni) would have made perfect sense to influence the final scene. The scene with the Quarians in the fleet was fully optional; it would have not been hard to tack-on an extra cutscene with the Geth as well.

The reapers said that we wouldn't be able to comprehend the whole design, way back in ME1. Seems it's still the case.
