MARPAT is issued in a woodland and desert pattern. I am not aware of the criteria for for which pattern is authorized wear and by whom? Is worn by MARSOC.
Universal Camoflague Pattern, UCP or ACU (Army Combat Uniform) replaced Woodland BDU and 3-color DCU in the US Army in April 2008.
BDU, Battle Dress Uniform is synonymous with US Woodland pattern. Still authorized for wear by USCG, USN & USAF personnel. (USAF CONUS wear only) not authorized for wear in Area of Responsibility (AOR).
Airman Battle Uniform, ABU began introduction in fall of 2007 w/USAF, AFR & ANG. Is actually a computerized version of 'tiger stripe' pattern. (BDU & DCU to be replaced by ABU in the USAF by Nov. 01, 2011) CCT/PJ/CWT are not sporting this in AOR.
Navy Working Uniform, NWU just began phase-in fall of 2009(?) will phase out BDU & DCU in near future, I am not aware of the date?
Multi-Cam, is worn by personnel of USSOCOM. Army SF, Rangers, USN SEAL and USAF Special Tactics & Rescue squadrons.
