Default REQ US camo BDU who's who

By looking at the pics on this forum I am a bit confused on the different types of pattern used by US troops also now in Afghanistan.

Could anyone help me to nail each pattern to branch/unit ?

This is what I noticed so far, but I will be probably wrong:

USMC - they have their own pattern MARPAT : i saw a desert and a forest pattern
Multicam - I saw some pics of this pattern worn by USAF?
old Woodland pattern - still worn by USN?
US Army - ACU and ?
    Seals - ?

    anything else I am missing?

I'm out of the game since 20 years so I am - so to speak - not much up to date when it comes to uniforms and gear

Thanks in advance for any reply

    Regarding Afghanistan...
USMC: Marpat. From time to time pictures appear with FR soldiers wearing BDUs but I don't know if woodland is still worn.
    Army: UCP ("ACU") and Multicam
Navy: still DCU and BDU AFAIK. I don't think the new NWUs (II/III) are already in use.
AF: ABU I think or still DCUs? Maybe some special guys wear Multicam...
Seals: That AOR stuff I think. Ask airsofters, they will know.

    thanks for the reply!

Let's try to shake off the rust, because you used too many acronysms for an old guy like me

    DCU - Desert 3-colour pattern?
UCP - the same as ACU ?
    BDU - woodland camo right?
ABU - that is a new thing I learnt today Airman Battle Uniform. It reminds me tiger stripes pattern a bit
AOR - looks similar to Marpat just different blend of colours ?

Yes, Desert Combat Uniform, DCU (3-color desert pattern, introduced around Operation Desert Storm) currently worn by US Navy and Coast Guard during stateside training and overseas. Authorized for wear by USAF personnel in CONUS only.
MARPAT is issued in a woodland and desert pattern. I am not aware of the criteria for for which pattern is authorized wear and by whom? Is worn by MARSOC.
Universal Camoflague Pattern, UCP or ACU (Army Combat Uniform) replaced Woodland BDU and 3-color DCU in the US Army in April 2008.
BDU, Battle Dress Uniform is synonymous with US Woodland pattern. Still authorized for wear by USCG, USN & USAF personnel. (USAF CONUS wear only) not authorized for wear in Area of Responsibility (AOR).
Airman Battle Uniform, ABU began introduction in fall of 2007 w/USAF, AFR & ANG. Is actually a computerized version of 'tiger stripe' pattern. (BDU & DCU to be replaced by ABU in the USAF by Nov. 01, 2011) CCT/PJ/CWT are not sporting this in AOR.
Navy Working Uniform, NWU just began phase-in fall of 2009(?) will phase out BDU & DCU in near future, I am not aware of the date?
Multi-Cam, is worn by personnel of USSOCOM. Army SF, Rangers, USN SEAL and USAF Special Tactics & Rescue squadrons.
In conclusion SOCOM personnel maybe seen wearing anyone of these uniforms or combination there of.

A lot of Navy guys also wear ACU's since they're IA's and GSA's. Only the Specwar guys or those assigned to Specwar get the NWU/AOR Type II's.

I know that my Airmen (USAF) wear anything from ABUs to ACUs to Multicam. However, what is typical for the rest of the AF, is for them to wear just the ABUs.

BDUs are pretty much gone only the old school sergeants wear them to look different and to keep the "creases" and shiny black boots. Which I think is retarded to spend thirty minutes and a dry cleaning bill on a uniform that is suppose to be used in the field so I will keep my ABUs. By way, I have been in long enough to wear the BDUs as well so I know what that was like.
