YJ was a special? Hmm? I'll be on the lookout.

I picked up a few American Vampire last year just before the Flashpoint, read two, and didn't like them. Real dull to me. Maybe it was the issues in question or maybe it was the rural 30s hick scene which doesn't work with my view of Vamps.

I don't really dig Fables as much as other people either. Read first 20 issues, meh. It's all there but, doesn't come together for me.

Like their new creative team though. On Fairest. Might try.

    Unwritten....hmmm?

Don't quote me on that, I don't know if it will just YJ : Invasion throughout but that just sounds like a title for a special/current storyline.

    Long Description for Unwritten.

Everyone's read the Tommy Taylor books, the popular series of novels turned pop culture phenomenon about a boy wizard's adventures. And everyone knows about Tom Taylor, the boy the novels were based on, whose life was so overshadowed by his Dad's fictional epic that Tom's become a lame Z-level celebrity at best and a human viral marketing tool at worst. But what if the resemblance goes even deeper? What if Tom is the boy-wizard of the books made flesh? And if that sounds crazy, why is it bringing him into the crosshairs of an ancient faction that has never been named in any book or text? To discover the truth about himself, Tom must search through all the places in history where fiction and reality have intersected. And in the process, he'll learn more about that unwritten cabal and the plot they're at the center of –– a plot that spans all of literature from the first clay tablets to the gothic castles where Frankenstein was conceived to the self-adjusting stories of the internet.A conspiracy mystery a la The Da Vinci Code, THE UNWRITTEN is the eagerly anticipated reunion of Mike Carey (X-Men, HELLBLAZER) and Peter Gross (FABLES, Chosen) – the team behind the multiple Eisner-nominated LUCIFER. Acclaimed artist Yuko Shimizu (SANDMAN: DREAM HUNTERS) joins the duo on covers

Newest trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, me like. Some people are annoyed with Banes voice again, the complaint before was you couldn't hear it. I think this might be a decent compromise.

Comics that don't objectify women, have a excessive violence, or overly complex stories that just wouldn't be interesting to an 8 year old? She's really in to the Teen Titans cartoon but I don't think the mainstream DC is all that appropriate.

Right off some stuff to consider. Tiny Titans, Clan Apis, Reed Gunther, The Marvelous Land of Oz (Recent Comic series not the book) and Bone.

I am a fan of the Oz series and Bone.

DC has a Young Justice comic and both companies have animated series comics. Like Marvels "Marvel Universe The Avengers Earths Mightiest Heroes" number one just came out. From Your TV Into Your Hands it says on the cover.

We don't read the comcis for kids so, you just have to ask the comic store owner, if you are using a comics store. I'll ask mine.

That picture^ is an exaggeration of the Red Hood and the Outlaws Comic not from a comic. But, I know what you mean. The comics after thew animated series are usually then kis safe ones now. You Justice is pretty good and is the Teen Titans character but, in an American cartoon style not the japanamation. anime style.

I'd throw out Fables (though Custodes isn't a fan) if she was a bit older.

As a general reminder for everyone, FCBD is this Saturday.

You can find the list of series and participating stores here : http://www.freecomicbookday.com/Home/1/1/27/992

Individual stores may have things like signings or sales. So be sure to look into that.

Thanks for reminding everyone about free comic day. New readers are welcome. Dan Slott? He is a really good writer. Spider Island was excellent. You should hit that!

I really enjoyed the new Worlds Finest. At first the uniform change bothered me. The two originals were much more interesting to me. Great book though. High hopes. I'm a Paul Levitz fan. I thought Huntress + Power Girl would be dull but, is was not. Just kept on reminding myself Robin+ Supergirl.

Well, this Wednesday was much more interesting that lately. The Round 2 of the 52 was a success, by my standards.

Earth 2: Great start. Art was a bit too fussy but, characters were drawn well. Good story. I wonder how the big three will come back since they are supposed to be important characters in the JSA book even if behind Flash and GL? Sort of bummed last two heroes flew into the event horizen there. They were needed but, their book was great too. High hopes.

G.I.Combat: With The War That Time Forgot and Unknown Soldier. Nice. Great art. Just glanced at it so far, looks tight. ...More War books coming. Haunted Tank etc...

Dial H: China Meiville writing comics. Great first issue. Good "powers" and set up. Looking forward to this one.

Batman Incorporated: is a sure bet, when it comes out. We've already had proof of that. Morrison on Bats, where he belongs.

Ravagers: Whatev...this whole "family of books" has annoyed me, and bored me etc... Tedious writing and horrible, distracting "art." The only thing that should be "Culled"
in this The Culling storyline is the creative teams and all the new characters and NOWHERE. Never has Superman, Superboy and The Teen Titans been this blah.

Avengers Vs. X-Men is finally taking off after a slow start. The aborted fake starts greatly annoyed me. Romita Jr. issues are excellent though.

I bought issue #1 a few weeks ago and missed issue #2 (although, I didn't realize it....sold out...in an hour?) Then this week I saw issue #3 and the bagged and boarded variant cover issue #2 for $5.95. Show up an hour or two after new books are out and miss an important issue? The whole variant cover scam is bulls*h*i*t enough. I've been tricked into buying issues I've already owned. With the vast number of books and companies nowadays this is easier than it seems. This whole variant scam needs to die. Now I remember why I quit.

I don't want subs. My list changes to much for that and there can be too much "confusion" there. In the past I was bombarded by books being shoved in my face that way. Too many I didn't want. It seems there is no answer except to either quit or drop all the variant/crossover events which are numerous. I notice stickers covering codes in the back of books too. Another grading scam awaiting to happen? Like the Marvel Stamps etc...? If the sticker is removed, is it no longer near mint? Reminds me why I read 'em (new issues) and then give them away. No more collecting.

Dammit, don't make me read so much text!

Some of the variant covers have some merit, as far as grade to value goes. Otherwise it just never mattered much to me, granted this isn't like say 10-15 years ago when it was still out of control. The previous two weeks for the strongest pulls for me, mostly because of Vertigo and other titles I was catching up on. It takes me forever to get out of a store, not because I buy so much but I always think I'm forgetting something. I know the counter people must wonder why I go up and down a section 6 times when I'm there. Only a few books to pick up for the week, the wallet thanks me.

I am going to wait on Earth 2, the dialogue samples I came across just weren't doing it for me. WF will get a pull probably. I might just be able to squeeze the free books in, as I have a party to go to at the local beer garden. Doubt I'll make it to the city.

The Trigan Empire was drawn by Don Lawrence and written by Mike Butterworth. It was first printed in 1965 in "Ranger" magazine in the UK and then "Look and Learn". Some Dutch company now own the rights.

Good to hear, lots of volumes to enjoy. Police procedural on a reservation.

Variants still suck a big moose ****. Why bother? Read the book and them dump it. Forget the collecting bull****.

A bit of introspection but, so much superior to the 52 DCnU. Worlds Finest was really cool. I preferred their original uniforms but, guess it couldn't be done. Helena Wayne as Robin was awesome and Supergirl looked beautiful. Huntress and Powergirl just seemed a bit drabber. Still it is a worthy book. Better than Birds of Prey.

Looks interesting. I heard some guy loudly praising the Valiant yesterday. So much so I thought it had been coming out regularly already. Hope we aren't having an artifical explosion. What with the movies being so big. Atlas and now Valiant?

The Lone Ranger cover looked nice too. Been checking out 6 Million Dollar Man and Planet of The Apes. Good comics.

Thanks Lobber. I don't think I ever saw it but, one drawn panel does not always awaken the little grey cells.

Should have ordered a bunch. I have never heard some of those profanities used in just those ways. Not to mention non-pc content. One has to check ones' tongue at the door when coming and going afterwards. And ultraviolence. After reading a few you get quite proficient.

Doug was a great artist and JQ was the man back then. Why the late memorial? On your mind? His books from the early nineties were outstanding. Great wrap around painted covers. He still HAD IT! Seen 'em?
