Anyone see Spidey yet?
I'm about 3/4 of the way through League 2009. Pretty typical Moorco*ckian/Farmer rip off as usual from Moore. Lots of chaos, drugs and *** overdone for shock value. First some Heroic Fantasy Moorc*ock mixed with some New Wave Mooc*ockian ripoff a la Jerry Cornelius then some Quartermain/Ayesha/Nemo/James Bond/The Doctor (or two) ripoffs etc...Add some newer Potter mythos and a little Mythago Wood and voila. Been there done that mildly amusing.*
* List of ripoffs severely edited.
Anyone see Spidey yet?
EDIT - yes custodes, I did
Personally, besides the guy who played Peter Parker and him acting and talking like he's a recovering crack and meth addict, it was very swell. Much more in line with 'standard canon'. I dunno how many spoilers I can give away, but give it a good look. For one, Gwen Stacy is the woman in his life at this one.
Currently Walt and his wife Louise helping with the Rocketeer. Her with the writing and him with the drawing of the arts.
I'll wait to see if AvX is worth a trade, I have plenty of other stuff that is more interesting.
That looks pretty damn cool.
TAS is just too much to live up too, they tried that in a way with Batman : Gotham Knight collection but that was more anime. Some good stories though. While TAS was dark and violent, it wasn't too adult that you weren't able to watch it as a kid. I think that is very important.
I'll still flip through it, maybe Alan is having a slow mental breakdown.
Sounds like a pity. I'm still planning on getting it, and maybe I will have a difference impression, but it is clear that Moore definitely is better at sticking with references earlier than the mid-20th century and shouldn't be so focused on shock value. Compare the first issue of Century (great vibe of the original two volumes, except with a subtle nod towards the Edwardian era; the fact that it was taking place during the Threepenny Opera was a nice touch) with the second (a drug-addled {okay, yeah it was the late '60s, but still} jumble with sausage galore).
And... maybe he is simply losing his mind.
^ Not that it was boring. It was a decent read but, I have read the exact same (albeit clever) plot many times before. Corum, Hawkmoon, Elric,Warhound, John Daker, Erekose, Jerry Cornelius, Law and Chaos,Light and Dark, Order and Entropy, Jesus and Anti-Christ past, present, future, alternate dimensions and/or planes/realms blah, blah, blah, blah. Probably you youngsters will think it is a little fresher than me. It isn't horrible nor really good. It just is. And we have probably spent way to much time discussing it.At least compared to some other, newer, fresh comics like Saga, Locke and Key, Americas' Got Powers, Secret, Secret Service, Unwritten, Saucer Country, so many more I can't remember are better.
For Marvel and DC: "Journey Into Mystery"...ALL THE GILLEN ISSUES. Great book and will make some really strong TPs not really related to any other Marvel books (even when the put a lame crossover logo up top) Stands on it's own like a great Sandman book or some other first rate Vertigo but, at Marvel.
Most vertigo (but not all) are very good. Animal Man and Swamp Thing are linked. Good work. And I like Earth 2. No bleeding crossovers. It is on it's own!

I'm on Vol 2 of Moore's Top Ten series, which is keeping any bad vibes for him at bay for the time. Just a nice, kooky read.

You familiar with Justice League Dark? I want to check it out. Interesting cast.

^Saw this today IMAX 3D. Loved it all. My friend thought parts were slow but, I didn't.
I'm reading Before Watchmen. Very impressed so far. I have liked every issue. About 5 or 6 are out. Can't wait for more. Only one a week. Yikes. More, more, more [not Moore,Moore,Moore]
Is that from that Reelz TV original show? On tonight? Is it good?
I have every issue. Stopped reading with issue 4. Way too slow getting started (or should I say Togther.) Haven't stopped buying them so I must have faith left. Made to read all at once maybe. Couldn't hurt but, the monthly schedule was not working for me here. Good covers. Good basic idea. I have all the Frankensteins and that DC Cosmic book, Stormwatch too but, haven't given them a change. Dumped all Superman family books this week. Even the recent , good Morrison solo stories in Adventure were not enough to same this mess for me.
Good to know, looked like a solid take on Pete and Stone as Gwen kinda had me going already.
I'm up to Comedian #1 for BW, they assembled some really good writers and seemed to know where to put them. The phone background is the symbol of The Trust from 100 Bullets.
Thanks for the heads up with JLD.

S*h*i*t there is a show on TV called XIII as well from a french series of books about an ex Govt. agent of some kind whose memory is erased and only known as thirteen (in Roman numerals) because of a tattoo. Watching it right now. Seems OK so far. Main characters are two ex-presidents and the heads of the CIA and NSA and a bunch of chicks and/or double female agents helping him.
Not swearing off JLD but, boy I don't know who pisses me off more Madam Xanadu or John Constantine.

Madam Xanadu's stand-alone series received good write ups up until DC decided to cancel that too.

Marvel's Reveals Bendis, Mack & Sienkiewicz's "Daredevil: End of Days"

^Bill Sienkiewicz. Haven't seen his name at Marvel in a long time. Used to dig his New Mutants like the giant-sized issue where Canonball became a rock star and had an affair with Lila Cheney and they took off for a Dyson Sphere.
So this is what is coming from Comic Con. They must be holding the really interesting stuff back.
What is this Marvel Now crap the so called reboot? I pull out my hair.*
