    Seems a good amount of stuff coming out of SDCC so far. I actually thought Marvel was fairly restrained in comparison to DC lately, but I can be wrong. I haven't kept up with DD though, so might be nice to jump back in. Of course Miller's work on the character is essential.



    Is that Morrison/Quitely JL?


    Yeah, that's supposed to be the new Darkseid for 52. I always wished they'd strip his design down more, he always seemed more primal.

    That's why even though Final Crisis was a dud, I will always loved having this book/cover.

    Yes, Morrison/Quitely JLA Earth 2. Interesting. They are all dead now, of course.

    I don't know wtf is going on at Marvel either. Turning the MU into the Movie Universe maybe.

    I can only describe some of Quitely's work as 'doughy' it's a bit funny but cool. Marvel is cashing in on the movie craze a bit more, hopefully that won't translate so much into the comics. Unforunatly IMO, the big two are trying to cater to people who probably won't read comic two years from now and/or only read once in a while.

    Can't disagree on Before Watchmen, very respectful to its source and as I mentioned it seems the right teams on the right books.

    You really need to check out Hellboy/BPRD/Lobster Johnson if you need to. I think it's up your alley.

    Saucer Country:Good book. I was leary at first because, I know a few crazy people who claim abduction. These folks also, work at a place (don't know the proper name) where they tell the future( fortunes) so, I have always been extremely doubtful.

    One groups claims to be the Hybrid offspring of abducted humans. The other Mutates, humans changed by Aliens and on their side. As you can imagine, the two groups hate each other, as one group is vaguely responsible for the abduction of the others' parents.


    A pal of mine used to live near this shop and was a part-time employee. If they weren't talking loudly and hysterically they were giving each other the silent treatment. Always a touch uncomfortable and they would always ask to read my fortune too. I would have to try to pretend to be "open to the possibility(at least) that these folks were "Psychic" I guess is the word. If not speeches would ensue and attitude commence.

    This was Cambridge ,Ma area. Around the late 1980s.

    So the book I can enjoy. It is a comic. I do not have to pretend it is real. Plus everyone knows those Alien Anal Probes are the CIA delivering drugs into someones' system with hallucinogenic pre-applications and theatrics for cover story.
