There were something like a 1000 summer estates like that throughout Russia owned by better off Russian aristocracy prior to the revolution. Most were lost unfortunately.

Particular building looks like typical Russian baroque, however I don't get the Lord of the Rings meets Turkish kazbah inner courtyard columns.

All brand new buddy. Prefab palace. I would have been much more impressed if it was a whole log home/dacha. With an architect who was an artist. Not vanilla, cookie cuter finery, disguised as an original.

Interesting point. If it belongs to a privat person, is he / she allowed to use the coat of arms in a privatly owned building?

Style is a bit too Las Vegas. Reminds me of the tacky mini-mansions people built during the housing boom. The value in their original homes went through the roof, so they took that money, demolished their old home, and built some monstrosity on the same plot, complete with 2 or 3 stories, Greek columns, porticos, and really large doors. And then painted them peach.

If Putin places the official coat of arms everywhere in his new private house who will criticize him, not to say do anything about it?
I doubt anybody will risk his job and career over such a thing in todays Russia. However as long as Putin holds an official position the coat of arms in his palace should be OK. Seems he plans to stay in office for the time to come...

Are you all just smoking crack and discussing this? Has this actually been confirmed? I don't see the story anywhere respectable.

Perhaps he will allow the poor Russian conscripts use it to defrost on R&R after the new uniform debacle.

For a new housing it looks really dated. It looks like an old money home from the Hamptons. Something JP Morgan would have built back in the 1920's.

How about Kolesnikov, the General Manager of SpetsMorStroy construction company, which built this place.
Here is his official letter to Medvedev: http://corruptionfreerussia.com/
