First off, never compare the Battlefield series of games with that brutal massacre of a FPS they call, Call of Duty. Anything after the first modern warfare was just horrific, which I actually enjoyed I dare say.

Secondly Battlefield was ABSOLUTELY NOT the original multi-player online shooter, which would more likely be Counter-Strike which was published by Valve and developed by Sierra Studios (I think)? Which was released in 1999.

    How old are you mannn?

    End rant
Never considered CS, but I hated that game. D3ath is right as well, CS was way too primitive compared to BF2. I spent DAYS online in the game, got quite good until I stopped. I loved Modern Warfare 1 too, was a great overall game.

Old enough not to rant about a video game.

First online shooter I invested much time in was MOHAA. I miss it. Had a good group I played with.
    BF3 sounds good so far.

It`s nice to hear that BF3 will be sequel of BF2.
Jets and large maps are nice but I hope there will be MANPADs and more weapons/vehicles than in BF-2.
It will be nice to see Russian vehicles especially BMP-2.

Best thing is that it will be also on xbox 360 and PS3.

We already have all of this (plus everything else everyone is asking for) and more with Project Reality.
When that mod shifts to another platform I'll go with it

I do believe you're not remembering a certain Renegade game. Granted, they came out in the same year...

As for this...meh, IDK whether to pass or not. Im sick to death of modern day first person shooters. Its the new WWII. 128 players wouldn't be new either, Joint Ops did that years ago.

Also, this trailer sucked. BF2's was much better. I know its the intro as well, but I remember it was one of the trailers as well

Damn, thats good. I was wondering why they didn't have that good music in the game. And thats also an issue - why can't they make music for stages, or a playlist/bunch of that you can also add too?

That trailer came out right before the game did, we already knew everything about it. This BF3 trailer is barely a teaser, once we actually know what the game is going to look like there will be a game-trailer.

I played Allied Assualt to death, first PC game I got.

Reserving judgement on BF3 until I've seen some more. Looks ok but I will be interested to see how far they're willing to push the hardware on the PC version.

-Aiming for CY Q4 2011 release
-Concept for BF3 has been in the works for years, waiting on proper tech to seamlessly come together
-Frosbite 2.0 is the culmination of this tech, entirely re-written
-Lighting sounds neat, one "probe" contains more lighting information than an entire BFBC2 level.
-Level destruction is going to be "believable" but basically everything is destructible.
-Character animations powered by ANT, what EA Sports uses.
-AI characters and multiplayer characters have different animation sets
-No more "gliding" animations that look off, animation realism is a focus
-Captured their own war audios (bullets, tanks, helicopters, etc) at different distances to ensure realism
-Better audio cues for certain actions, more easily able to listen for threats
-Plan on better, more immediate post release content
    -More unlocks than BFBC2
-Dice trying to find a good balance between customization of your character and not having "pink rabbit hat(s)"
    -4 classes
    -Will talk about squads "later"
-Looking into a theater mode but can't talk about it
    -Will have co-op
-There will be a kill-cam but it can be turned off
-BF3's team is almost twice as big as the team for BFBC2
-They want the pacing of the single player mode to be balanced, with highs and lows. Makes the comparison to a song vs a guitar solo.
-Part of the single player mode takes place in Sulaymaniyah - Iraqi Kurdistan.
-"F**k" will be used often, so M rates for sure
-There will be an earthquake in a level. The destruction sounds very impressive. 7 story building collapses, looks very well done
-Significant narrative that goes with the SP mode
-More than one setting, you're not in the middle east for the whole game
    -PC version is lead version
-Why 64 players for PC only? No complains from the console crowd.
-No mod tools at release. Maybe none down the line either. Frosbite 2.0 is complex and mods tools would have to be dumbed down, so does Dice really want to put their time to that or would it be better spent elsewhere?

Claiming "the engine is too complex for mod tools" smells like BS to me.

Contact a developer, if you know how to make marching in squares and firing muzzle loaders exciting in an FPS.
