What do you guys think about this new Forge World Horus Heresy trailer?
For me, it's really interesting.
ah, good to hear my age shouldn't be a problem. is it easy to get to grips with? how difficult is the painting of such models, I have previous exp in painting scale model fighters etc

Well if you've painted stuff before, then you'd have no problem with painting Warhammer or 40K figures and vehicles. It's pretty easy to get tabletop quality stuff done if you're in a hurry. Slap on base coat of paints on the areas you want covered (I usually have three or four at most of these - say armour, flesh, clothing and maybe weapon). Then give it a wash which shades it. And then tidy it up a little. If you're feeling energetic you can highlight, or dry brush or any of many other techniques. Glue on a bit of sand and some flock and ... sorted! Done them in batches of 10 or 20 and in a couple of months you've got something that looks good on the battlefield.
I don't play 40K so I can't comment on those rules, but the Warhammer rules are fairly easy to get the hang of.
New 40K starter set, 'Dark Vengeance'. Dark Angels vs Chaos Space Marines.
Some cool looking new models in it.
Dark Angels Terminators:
Chaos Dreadnought:
Chaos Cultists:

Man that Chaos Deardnaught is sweet and so are the rest of the Chaos Space Marines. A big improvement on the current designs that is for sure.
The Chaos Space Marines in the new starter set look more organic.

Time for an army update.
BEASTMEN!?! No, more like BESTMEN!!!!!!!
From out of the Drakwald, the beastmen army descends upon the town of Blütdorf to slay its inhabitants and burn it to the ground...
Ungors, Centigors and a Razorgor Chariot...
Warhounds, a giant, Beastigors...
More Gors, my Warlord and Bray Shaman plus a Chaos Spawn...
And a close up of the Warlord plus some skirmishing Ungors in the woods...
Minotaurs (including a Doombull), plus more Gors and Ungors...
A closer view of the Ungor skirmishers...
And a close up of my only just completed unit of Beastigors (finished the banner about an hour ago). Those great axes sure do make them hard to rank up, but not nearly as bad as a unit of Gors with hand weapons and shields. Those things are nightmares...

Finished the Snotlings for my Warhammer Quest game...
Made a start on the giant bats...
And picked up some cheap "new" old stuff for it...

All the latest additions are looking great TheKiwi. How much time you spent on painting per day, week? You seem to be able to keep up a steady pace.
Depends upon how tired I feel when I get home/social life/etc. Most nights I'd probably put in an hour or two (on and off with breaks to allow stuff to dry). Some weekends I might put in 7 - 8 hours, but then I'll go through a month or more of being uninspired and do nothing or next to nothing.
I have a list of things I want to finish before my (WFB and 40K playing) mate Sean comes back to NZ for a holiday in the middle of this month, so I'm on a push right now.
That's a lot of hours, no wonder you get this much done. So when are you going to make a foray into 40K?
Yeah I need more armies like I need a hole in the head. So no matter how tempting those Dark Eldar and new CSM look, I will not be pulled from the path of the rightous....
Well at least not until I've cleared out a large backlog of WFB work.
You guys played the Dark Heresy? So you can start with just few characters and of course some of the opposition and there you go...![]()
Sweet models and a kickass display environment for the Beastmen! Great job all around.
I recently painted a Fire team of Army Rangers along with their HMMWV transport.
