I would have thought that would have been painted of PDQ by the rebels?

Any chance seeing a Lybian VZ77 Dana 152mm howitzer ?

Does anyone know where these are parked ? Have they been used by Gaddafi troops against rebels ?

They were not seen once since conflict started, not in loyalists, nor in rebel hands. I also heared nothing about its modernization or spare parts transfer from neither Czech or Slovak arms industry prior to conflict (as in case of LARAF L-39). My guess is that they were all retired after aquision of Italian Palmaria howitzers.

Unlikely.. Dana had been purchased at the same time as Palmaria. Perhaps all of the remaining Dana remain at bases in southern Libya...

Not likely, DANAs are not in production since 80s.

Unlikely to have been scrapped- dictaotors seem to be incurable pack rats...guns make them feel powerful so they stack them high in warehouses-even when well past their sell by..which in this case seems to have bitten Gaddafi on the arse.

The DANA 152-mm self-propelled gun-howitzer was developed in former Czechoslovakia. It was designed as an alternative for the Soviet 2S3 Akatsiya. Unlike many other howitzers of that period the DANA is based on a wheeled chassis. It's production commenced in 1981 and ceased in 1994 with over 750 units built.

The Dana 152 mm self-propelled gun-howitzer was developed in the late 1970s by ZTS to meet the operational requirements of the Czech Army for a highly mobile self-propelled artillery system.Dana is based on automotive components of the well-known Czech Tatra 815 VP 31 29265 8 × 8.1R truck which has a good demonstrated cross-country capability.Following trials with prototype systems, the Dana was accepted for service with the Czech Army and first production models were issued to the Kiev Artillery Battalion Jan Zizka of Trocnov based at Tabor, Southern Bohemia, in 1981.

afaik only ZST Dubnica nad Vahom was building them and maybe they announced end of production in 94 but I have no knowledge about one beeing build after 89 when arms industry entered crisis and decline. Slovakia retired them after development of Zuzana.

In any case, Dana and Palmaria were produced in 1980s and Libya had bought them at the same time.

That is because in the video we see an G.222T (the version Libya bought) and the picture shows a C-27J. Which is a modernized version with a glass ****pit, more powerful engines and 6-bladed propellers.

    wtf!
Oh boy, you just have to love the censorship....

The Observer has gained exclusive access to thousands of do***ents which show how the Libyan leader gave orders for the torture, arrest and bombardment of his own people..][....Another do***ent, bearing the stamp of Gaddafi's Anti-Terrorism Committee – his inner circle of commanders – instructs forces to hunt down two wounded rebels who had fled to the neighbouring town of Zlitan, a clear violation of the guarantees of the Geneva conventions that demand protection for wounded combatants.
To put it into perspective, consider that no significant international war crimes trial has ever found written instructions proving that atrocities were actually ordered.
In other words: If those papers get to the ICC Gadaffi is officially f***ed.
