It doesn't mutter at all, because it is mostly a question of trust.

If this idea should be serious applied the organization/supervision of the elections has to be executed by a trustworthy party not just by Assad, but by all the Syrians and all the people of the region. Otherwise, whatever the results of the elections are, they would be rejected/contested and nothing good will come from it.

Iran warships 'dock in Syria's Tartous port'

Iranian warships have crossed the Suez Canal and docked in Syria's port city of Tartous, Iranian state media has reported.

The Mehr news agency said on Sunday that Tehran's show of support has caused "extreme worry for zionist forces".

Youcef Bouandel, professor of international affairs at Qatar University, told Al Jazeera that Iran's deployment has to be viewed as part of a "broader picture" - that it to say that the Iranian government feels that "Syria is the first step towards putting Iran in the corner".

"Iran has been having a few standoffs with the West in general over its nuclear programme and over its oil emabrgo," said Bouandel, who said that the docking of the ships on the Syrian coast had two largely symbolic meanings.

"Iran has been threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz and has been a strong ally of Syria over the last year in particular... the two ships... crossed the Suez Canal without being stopped or searched [which] suggests that they do not carry any weapons," he said.

Tensions over the nature of Iran's nuclear programme have led to ever-tightening sanctions on the country's oil exports, prompting Iran to threaten to close the strait, the world's most important chokepoint for oil transport.

They're fortunate the FSA haven't gotten their hands on any of those Iranian ASMs.

There is no dispute right there what so ever in what you said.Syria did play the game. What goes around comes around. Basically Syria will change either into a Turkey version of state and islam or a radical KSA version. That is the issue really.

Report: Iranian ships disrupt Syrian opposition communications

Egypt security sources, Syrian opposition members say Iranian vessels that docked at Tartus port over the weekend have 'military communications jamming devices'

    Roi Kais

Egyptian security sources and members of the Syrian opposition are claiming that the two Iranian ships docked off the Syrian coast are equipped with "military communications jamming devices that are disrupting communications made by the Syrian opposition via satellite," the London-based Arabic newspaper Asharq al-Awsat reported Monday.

According to the report, an Egyptian security source noted that recently the Syrian regime has been finding it hard to monitor opposition calls after it began using secure communication lines.

The regime in Damascus is finding it particularly difficult to monitor calls made by of the Free Syrian Army and the Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary Committees, the source told the newspaper.

    (…)

On Sunday Asharq al-Awsat quoted a State Department official as saying that the US was concerned by the arrival of Iranian vessels to Syria and considers it an Iranian attempt to aggravate the situation in the region.

    Example of a phone: http://www.nabishi.com/satellite.htm
You can find different models at a starting price of some 300 Euros on eBay.
There are different communications networks like GlobalStar and Iridium… You buy in advance a prepaid communications time.

Prices are not so high at the present. (I used for a professional travel the Motorola network some 10 years ago and at the communications were very expensive then.)

LOL, you really are a tool. Keep it up - you are any dictators dream material

As for communications, perhaps the US should counter by jamming known Syrian regime communications?

You dont even have to be in their territory to do it. Or maybe Israel could - they ARE technically at war with Syria
