It's a PR victory for them after Annan resigned.
The Arabs love this kind of symbolic achievements, that usually serve them to blame the Jews for something.

Not really, Syria has/had a fairly significant military establishment with large stores. The vast majority of FSA weapons are AK/PKM, of which there's plenty of ammo laying around for.

That being said, most reports indicate FSA indeed experiences frequent ammo shortages, though probably not as much these days given a string of military successes that saw a lot of ammo plundered.

I sincerely doubt in any regard that Qatar is sending all of the FSA's AK-47 ammo.

Syria reaches oil deal with ally Russia

"Russia wants to help the Syrian people," Syrian Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Qadri Jamil told reporters in Moscow on Friday.
"We will deliver our oil and receive gasoline and fuel oil; it will be a barter," he said, adding that Syria is producing about 200,000 barrels per day.

Let's hope European insurers will topple this delivery that is aimed to fuel Assad's armor.

And at the same time allow medical supplies and sophisticated communication equipment to trickle to the FSA and their Mujaheddin friends?

    Har Har.

Most likely the organization that will deliver the shipments of oil will be government controlled, no need to worry about Insurers from the EU.

The FSA commander discussed his combatants’ raising of the al-Qaeda flag atop the Syrian-Turkish border crossing of Bab al-Hawa after they had captured it. He said, “Some groups have been paid to distort the Syrian resistance’s image. We are making contacts to find out who did this act and I assure you that al-Qaeda is not in our ranks.”

This was the same commander who swore the executions in Aleppo were performed by a group used to discredit the FSA.

The original interview was pulled from AJE - Gee, I wonder why?

    Say What? Word?

Word! al-Qaeda is not in our ranks, it's all a Yahoudi Assad lie!

It does not really matter anyway. They will just drive them unsupported into urban areas and lose them.If I was a Syrian tank/ifv crewman I would not want that shipment to get through.

Really? Going to dismiss the entire report because AQ uses the generic black flag of Jihad which everyone and their mother associates with AQ? You mean the same flag they march with, swear allegiance too, and use in the backdrop of their videos?

What kind of helicopters? Rosvertol are currently very busy filling gigantic orders of Russian MoD and also export order of 36 Mi-35M for Azerbaijan, and AFAIK they had no contract with Syria.

    From Russian inventory?

First, if you want to associate Al Queda some flag, than it is Shahada above the silver or gold moon. Second, it does not belong to Al Queda, neither does any variation of black standard. It is used by jihadists world-wide, it is used by al-Shabaab, it is used by Ansar al-Sharia, it was used by Fatah al-Islam, it was used by countless number of Iraqi jihadi groups and in Syria it is also used by al-Nusra front. It is simply flag of jihad as jihadists claim that it was used by Mohammed during his campaign in Arabia. Therefore if this flag is hoisted, it does not mean that it was Al Queda who put it there, as AQ is not conglomeration of all jihadists in every corner in the world. To be exact, every time I read in any report "flag of AQ" it only shows ignorance of correspondent. It could´ve been countless of other jihadi groups which use the same flag. So no, it is not flag of AQ. If it would, they´d have to own it. They don´t.

No three Syrian Mi-25s whose airframes needed to be overhauled. There will be no new arms contracts negotiated until the crisis is over.
