Maybe not directly, but France already recognized the "Syrian opposition" as the "legitimate representative of Syrian people" (which is itself a joke, since obviously the "opposition" doesn't represent all the Syrian people), while it's not even clear who the "opposition" is, what they really represent and what agenda they have (besides ousting Assad).

The SNC is not a joke. It's an umbrella of all the diversity of political formations that oppose Assad. They don't have to have other common ground than that.

It looks like that on the ground the strongest "opposition" that is going to win and dictate the future, are actually the Islamist groupings and not the secular pro-democracy ones.

There's no evidence to sustain this.

But in the typical stupid and shortsighted politician fashion (I'm not referring to France specifically here, but the West in general), I guess that anything can be "corrected" with additional bombing. So what if with our (political & financial) help Syria fell to the islamists and become an Al-Qaeda breeding ground, we will just bomb them five or ten years from now, which will magically solve the problem...

If France and the West will stay out of it the Islamic states will fill the vaccum. IMO, we should have provided weapons to the FSA from the start. As we did not, Qatar, KSA came in and we see now the result with reinforced Islamic fractions.

In such case, the rebels should first take the airfield and then Turkish pilots could fly out the helicopters. But it does not make sense for Turkish pilots to participate to the assault, like in a James Bond film.

that a Turkish GENERAL had been captured in Aleppo.

X1 Good point on the fact that KSA and Qatar joined the battlewagon and derailed the original intent of the FSA which was a no-future. But thanks to gulf finance, you fundamenralist spewing their hatered on different minority groups. Isreal should prepare for another lebnon X3.

Syria only have there very old migs planes from , not really useful as "high tech stuff".. must likely They wanted to use the planes to load them with chemical weapons and later attack civilians and blame the Syrian army for it..ie( it to justify a more direct military intervention) . On other notes..There is a new released video by the the FSA "democracy fighters" , that Turkey welcomes and support and some western countries sponsor too.. trying to "liberate" the civilian international Damascus Airport. Wondering in what way this rebels will be treated if they do the same in the cities of the countries that sponsor them. will them be called terrorist? or will they be called "civilians fighting for freedom" ?
