Quick question, how is a soldier issued a specific weapon like a machine gun, grenade launcher ? they test all the soldiers and wich one fires it better or is it random or based on physical strength ? i ask in general not a specific army. Thanks.

The weapons are issued in compliment to position. Teams, squads and platoons have various functions and capabilities. All Soldiers are trained and cross trained on various weapon systems. Often, it is a mix and they are spread out in formation to be able to deliver the best defense possible.

For instance (and I was a special case being the armorer) I had an M16, but my special qualification was .50 cal machine gun. I would go to the range to train on both. All Soldiers are Infantry to start with so marksmanship training is paramount to being able to qualify - you have to pass at least that. All other training is gravy.

I was lucky, I got to fire it all!

Cuba will mark the official proclamation of the socialist nature of the Cuban Revolution and the 50th anniversary of the victory over the 1961 mercenary invasion of Bay of Pigs with a military parade and a popular march on April 16 at the Jose Marti Revolution Square in Havana.

Have a read through the "your photos in uniform" thread and you'll discover that it can come down to the judgement of the Sgt.
