I heard some rumbling that this TF might include a few Migs on loan from India (the ones in testing in Russia, but not formally transferred to IAF)

In any case, the number of jets was never the limiting factor for Kuznetsov sortie rate (there are more than enough Su-33) - the number of qualified pilots was.

No, the task force is going to consist of:

    - CV Admiral Kuznetsov
    - DDG Admiral Chabanenko
    - FFG Ladny
    - Support vessels (probably Eprоn from the BSF and Nikolai Chiker from NF)

There isn't a single plane in Russian Airforce that use R-77.

Hmm that's interesting so it means R-77 is only for export? And Russian Airforce still trusted the good old R-27 family? Any particular reasons for the decision? A source would also be welcome. Thank you very much.

    @Artjomh
Ekhm, fairly small escort. any "Anteys" or other subs to support? Or top brass assumes - one hit = full scale nuclear counterstrike?

    All newly built T-10 derivatives (Su-27SM, Su-30, Su-34, Su-35) can launch R-77/RVV-AE. Theoretically.

But the remaining Soviet stocks of R-77 are very small and the missile is/was produced in Ukraine, so nobody actually uses it in operational squadrons.

RVV-AE, which is produced in Russia, is export-only.

    Waiting for R-77M (izd. 170/180/whatever).

Only Indian Airforce use it operationally. I remember figure "200" for some reason, i think that is the number they have. R-77 didn't live up to expetations. 90's. Standards Su-27's can't use them. That is the reasons.

    Yup, sums it up.

    Yeah, just a tiny problem.

    1: I said Russian Airforce

2: RuAf don't care about R-77's. They are not in production, and my point still stands, they are not used in RuAf.

Any pics of operational SMT with R-77? Or SM3? Or SM? Or Su-34? Thought so.

So it is basically a more logistic issue and not an issue with technical difference of the two missile types right?
Is the R-77M (izd. 170/180) the ramjet version of R-77/RVV-AE? Is the project still running because I remember reading somewhere that the ramjet version was cancelled.
    Thank you, Artjomh

It's that missile they are developing for PAK-FA.

As far as I can tell, Item 180 is the domestic version of RVV-SD. No real hard info on it though, just guesswork.
