Mikoyan isn't doing too bad abroad though, still I'd love to see a light one-engine 5th gen aircraft from Mig, wouldn't that be nice? (I know about the rumors, but I doubt how far the project was taken)
Sukhoi is also main developer of PAK DA. LMFS is dead, dont expect it.

Eh. It was other way around. Sukhoi sold jets to India, Vietnam and China, while MiG was in **** situation. Nothing has changed, the momentum Sukhoi gained through 90's is just growing.

Really? I thought tupolev was main developer?

It is amazing how the Su-27 (and variants) was not even in the spotlight and now it is a major aircraft in the international market.

    Thumbs up

Russia lays down new corvette for Pacific Fleet

The Amur Shipyard in Russia’s Far East has started the construction of a new Steregushchy class corvette for the Russian Pacific Fleet, the Khabarovsk Territory government said.
“A Steregushchy class corvette will be built for the Pacific Fleet,” the Khabarovsk Territory government said in a statement on Friday. “It will be delivered in 2015.”The Gromky corvette is the sixth Steregushchy class vessel designed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau and second being built at the Amur Shipyard. Two corvettes of this class, the Steregushchy and the Soobrazitelny have been already put into service with the Russian Navy, while three others are under various stages of construction and trials. The Steregushchy class corvette can be deployed to destroy enemy surface ships, submarines and aircraft, and to provide artillery support for beach landings. Advanced stealth technology is used to reduce the ship's secondary radar field, as well as its acoustic, infrared, magnetic and visual signatures.Russia plans to have up to 30 vessels of this class to ensure the protection of its coastal waters, as well as its oil and gas transportation routes, especially in the Black and the Baltic seas. Each corvette has a displacement of 2,000 metric tons, maximum speed of 27 knots, and a crew of 100.The ship's armament includes SS-N-25 Switchblade anti-ship cruise missiles, a 100-mm gun, a variety of air defense and anti-submarine systems, and a Ka-27 Helix ASW

As I've said several times, rumor has it that some obj. 54 development is more probable. So it's gonna be VERY MS.

not military related but still cool

"Current video demonstrates principle of operation of new advanced "CORDON" multi-target photo radar system, developed by SIMICON, Scientific and Production Company. http://www.simicon.com/
This system is designed for unattended photo capture of speeding violations and optionally, immediate transmission of the captured data for back office processing.
The key feature of the "CORDON" is its ability to simultaneously monitor the speed of either oncoming or outgoing vehicles in up to four (4) lanes of contiguous traffic using one single speed sensor.
The sensor automatically measures vehicle speeds, recognizes license plates in control area and creates a pair of images for each violation: wide-angle image of multiple targets in the traffic flow situation, with the violator(s) clearly identified and a close-up image of each violator with a clearly visible license plate.
At the present time "CORDON" system is passing the certification procedure and is about to go into mass production. The first sensors are installed in St.-Petersburg, Russia and operating in testing mode."

T-60S is also plausible, as it is newer design that was meant to replace Su-24 and Tu-22M3. T-54 moved pretty far along, with a half mock up even built... It is somewhere in Sukhoi OKB.

I always envy the politicians that get to see all the awesome prototypes when they take factory tours...

They should really modernize the Sovremenny class ships. I mean Rastoropny is just sitting at Severnaya verf, begging to be worked on.

I think a lot of them have issues with their propulsion units which make modernisation/repair very costly and not cost effective.

Main problem with 956 ships is their powerplant, which is VERY finicky, and any meaningful refit should really include its replacement. Unfortunately, that's a very costly measure and on the ships of this size is simply not economically feasible.

Thanks for the info guys. Goddamn that is such a shame... I really do like those ships.
Hmm well here's to hoping we get Admiral Gorshkov finished this year! (and get a ton of pictures :P)

Nice trolling of Internal Troops by Kadyrov.
Alas, but it is not the first time when their Command gives berets without passing the exam to 'right people'.
