Not Rus-related on first glance. Ukrainians to start trials of that old hulk zaparozhie soon, the relation to us is that we pretty much did the repair work and the crew was trained by our black sea fleet on the alrosa.
Edit: here's a lenta article about it http://lenta.ru/articles/2012/03/21/zaporozhje/

And for my fav bit of news:
http://flotprom.ru/news/?ELEMENT_ID=107322 Boiky is ready to recieve a crew They're totally on schedule to deliver the ship sometime this year. If I'm not mistaken we might even get another stereguschy at the end of this year from the other shipyard. Great stuff!

Zaporozh'e reportedly sailed for the first time in 20 years yesterday. They're currently transferring it from the repair plant to the Ukrainian part of the naval base and plan to start trials soon. Everybody's crossing their fingers, because repair or no repair the boat is old as a mammoth sh!t and properly belongs to a museum rather than the fleet.

Why the hell dont they just buy a Kilo or something off Russia than trying to maintain and repair that ancient thing?

According to the lenta article I posted, we even offered them new batteries for the thing at a cheap price and they rejected any Russian involvement out of political reasons...

Probably a political thing. A lot of factions in modern Ukraine, especially a Yuschenko administration (though Kuchma's one was no better, and even supposedly pro-Russian Yanukovich tries to maneuver to please both sides), try to build a national identity on a base of how they aren't Russia anymore. They even refused to buy batteries for it from Russia and paid thrice of that to Greeks, so buying a whole boat looked even more out of question.

Default Anteys 949A are back to biz to fight AMD?

Hmmm seems that we soon can see 72 Clubs on each, I am wondering if their salvo is enough to neutralize sites in Poland and Czechia?

The only losers in this arrangement are the poor souls that will have to serve on this gigantic heap of ****. Paying x3 times the price with a confusing procurement chain for legacy stuff is the perfect environment for raspil and otkat.

Floating turd is an accident waiting to happen.

72 klubs are a lot, and more than likely would be very sufficient in dealing with such ABM systems (Curise missiles have this advantage at flying low to avoid radar). This is quite the system then, and would be very useful in that roll. Will be interesting to hear more on this development.

I have the same question in mind. It seems this is the first order for Su-30SM, but who knows in naval 12 are included or not and if there will be more of them. Anyway contract is signed and planes are bought.

Yep, 72 per one Antey. Seems in the west nobody's going dare to say that elections legitimacy is in doubt anymore I am just wondering if flight time ~3 hours before reaching targets is not to long in order to suppress AMD before Russia answers with ICBMs response.

are they to replace SU-24 bombers? if so why to have 2 types of tactical bombers - Su-34 and Su-30SM?

    Su-30SM is multirole fighter.

SU-32/34 has longer range and a bigger payload (new models can carry 12000 Kg's of payload it seems) also is far more suited as a bomber.

    Su-30SM is multirole fighter.
Strike fighter would be more appropriate term, no ?
