Nope. 30mm is king. 12.7 is just to weak against infantry in built up or fortified areas. 12.7 would just be a waste of thousands of rounds of ammunition, all you would achieve is a lot of noise or supression, but you wouldn't kill anyone. The 30mm would supress them not by amount of fire, but by ripping them to shreds even if they hide.

In the Balkan wars, the 3x20mm (which is a lot more powerful than the one you are mentioning) was everywhere, but nothing spelled fear and domination like the 30mm Praga.

apologies if my question is lame but if you use HE then is it enough to penetrate walls without explosion? and if it is only for exploding then why not to use Balkan 40mm grenade launcher?
