So I've been watching a history of the Kiev aicraft carrier and it just strikes me that it's such a ****ing shame we lost the Nikolayev Shipyards. The place where all of our aircraft carriers were born, Slava class cruisers, hell even the Potemkin was built there.
Nowadays it's a dilapidated reminder of the collapse of soviet industry that never really stopped in the Ukraine.

Shame, what a damn shame. Even though we've started recovery of the lost capacity, and in theory sevmash will be able to handle ships of the size Nikolayev did, I'm just sad for our ukrainian brothers.

The point is, he's technically right. Shipyard ordered an anchor of some detailed specs, and agreed to pay 4 million rubles for it. So far that the supplied anchor is whithin specs, it's nobody's business how the supplier obtained it and what amount it paid. It's not that anchors go stale and unusable with time. If the anchor is not to specs — well, it's a jail time.

At a meeting with journalists management group of companies "Volga-Dnepr" announced the signing of the contract in near future with the UAC for the delivery of 20 new heavy cargo aircraft An-124-111 and An-124NG (Next Generation) with an option yet for 20 cars.

In addition to use of other technical solutions , AN-124 and AN-111-124NG will be equipped with upgraded engines, D-18 production of JSC "Motor Sich".

In the An-124-111 engines will be installed D-18T series of 3M, the corresponding requirenments of Chapter IV of ICAO noise and emissions itself and surpassing the existing D-18 Series 3 in terms of efficiency by 2%.

According to Vice President of "Volga-Dnepr" Gabriel, AN-124-111 appears already to 2016 Investing in modernized on the D-18T series 3M are estimated at $ 25 million

Probably just standard wear&tear lifetime replacement. She went out on that Mediterranean cruise last year, must have shown some wear on the old one.

Anyways we're all waiting for the concrete announcement to put her in complete overhaul. Expected sometime this year, but god knows when or if they actually decide to do it. I hope they do, Kuznetsov has a lot of little diseases that they need that overhaul to fix. Not to mention the hangar expansion, hopefully they'll do something about her engines, etc etc etc. So an anchor is really minor news.

Yeah, electronics and engines need that refit badly. But hangar expansion is nearly impossible. Because just in front of the hangar are elevators with elevator shafts to main munitions bunker bellow hangar level, in order to expand hanger till Granits compartment, they will have to do something about that main munitions bunker with elevators, since it's in the way.
