    Indeed.....
Remember when pakistani intelligence insisted UBL was dead years ago?
Maybe they were just hoping the rest of the world would buy it, and stop searching for their little darling....
Given the close proximity of UBL to retired generals and officials in an affluent neighborhood, I doubt they didn't know where he was....

So all an all you don't need to play on his emotionnal ground. Just tell him, the guy was sourrounded, he didn't gave himself up, the US had an international warrant and he was wanted for terrorism among the 60 or so other accounts (first account cannot be prescripted before 30 years). SO this killing although seemingly controversial, does not suffer any illegality.
"a breaching of his human rights" Please tell me you're joking.

Dom I don't know what time it is where you are, but here when you surrender and get executed on the spot. That's illegal...

However HE DIDN'T surrender. He tried to defend himself, he got put down. No problem, job done.

Clinton had cold feet before 9/11 to pull the trigger on this guy and the Bush Admin screwed up in Tora Bora and did more for nation building than killing UBL. Ever since Obama took office there was a spike in killing HVTs and the like and I've been saying that Obama has let us do what must be done. So, it does matter what the CIC does and Obama deserves credit for making the tough decision.

Remember, it has to do with political decisions being decided in the face of potential disaster. This shows that Obama had total faith in our SOF in getting the job done, and trust me, that is a tough decision that should not be ignored.
ya I hear ya' I still think the media and even Obama himself needs to not make it about him and his decisions though.

In fact I think a lot of people will see this as the end of our war in Afghanistan, when it is anything but.

no...but that doesn't mean that people can't enjoy and revel in a great moment in this conflict without you telling folks that "this doesn't change anything" or "go enlist"
If you can show me where I said "this doesn't change anything" I'll give you a lollypop. I said it doesn't "END" anything.

"Go enlist" is my standard response on this site, over several years, in responding to very patriotic (in the emotional sense), yet otherwise unresponding young people who are members here. I'll admit that I'm mocking them.

and thank you for your service, but who do you think you are to question my time served and what i did?
I'm not questioning your service, wherever or whatever, just your knowledge about Afghanistan.

Sorry but "hiding" in a fortress/mansion on the outskirts of Islamabad in a predominantly military district rings of harboring to me....

Pakistan has a lot of explaining to do and even if their hands are clean it's an embarrassment.

I also don't buy them claiming they had operatives involved in the immediate operation...

While I'm not a fan of gunning people down, I wouldn't have cried if he'd had an accident.

Wow, just wow. Facebook status update from someone in NZ on my "friends" list -

"Obama is a cvnt, and you're a cvnt too if you're getting duped by the revelry on TV. No wonder people want to kill Americans."

I know where the next 5.56 round should go...

Sorry to break the news and all, but let's not forget the SPC. Bowe Berghdal is still in the hand of the Talibans. And after what just happen today, I hope there won't be any repercussion.

Dominique: Same here, but that would still have been Illegal if he surrendered. Although I would have loved to see his face staring shamelessly at the cameras and ranting about an ISlamic Revolution only to be hanged later. He would have been SO demythified and demystified...a real victory.

But I take what comes. A head shot's good.
