Default Gibraltar Slams New 'Incursion' By Spanish Navy

    Here we go again...

GIBRALTAR - The Gibraltar government condemned as "provocative and unlawful" an incident on May 3 in which it said a Spanish naval vessel incurred into its territorial waters and then called on commercial ships to leave the area.

Tensions in the disputed waters off the tiny British territory were already high since an incident on April 23 involving Spanish and Gibraltar police vessels.

Perhaps Spain should enter an alliance with Argentina....

Madrid argues the 6.5-square-kilometre (2.6-square-mile) territory that is
home to around 30,000 people should be returned to Spanish sovereignty.

But its people overwhelmingly rejected an Anglo-Spanish proposal for
    co-sovereignty in a referendum in 2002.
Perhaps Spain does not know how to attack this problem? I suggest they should guarantee 100 years of zero taxes for Gibraltar if they decided to return back to Spain. Money talks.

Please do not talk about what you do not understand. The matter is grave and delicate between two allied nations.

How is it a "grave" matter? Spain ceded Gibraltar to England in 1713. Gibraltans (Gibraltarians?) have expressed their desire to not become part of Spain. England has said it will never discuss Gibraltar's status without the consent of the people of Gibraltar. Other than some territorial issues regarding MEZs and such, this should be a complete non-starter on two of the three sides.

It's grave based on the fact that the spanish goverment don't seem to understand that which you've pointed out. Hopefully all will come to their senses and let the good(ish) people of Gibralta get on with their lives as they see fit.

The UN, by resolution of its General Assembly in December 19, 1967, called for the decolonization of Gibraltar with the restoration of territorial integrity of Spain. The UK responded by unilaterally declaring the right to self-determination of the sloppies —"llanitos" in Spain— (Until then any British diplomat had been passed through the head).
At issue now is the sovereignty of the waters surrounding the rock. The treaty of utrecht specifically states that the transfer was made without territorial jurisdiction. Spain has refused since 1713 that the UK has water rights. Again, in 1999 the UK unilaterally proclaimed its sovereignty over the waters for 3 miles. Spain has never recognized this until now.

Still if Spain wants the rock back they need to convince the Gibraltans that they are better off being linked up with Spain not the UK. Simply offer them a very attractive deal, e.g., no taxes (and throw in complete independence) for 100 years.

One alternative could be to slowly increase the number of Spanish "guest workers" in Gibraltar, have them breed like rabbits and then outvote the "natives"

There is a another manner to regain Gibraltar for Spain: kill o throw out all the Barbary macaques or "monos" (macaca sylv****) from the Rock (peñon). But I think would dislike to the PETA this solution.
