Gibraltar is British no matter what the Spaniards say. When the people of the Rock want to decide to be Spanish and they vote to do so, then they may join Spain and it'll be time to leave. But so far the people wish to be British, and Gibraltar is legal British territory, then there is no issue.

Queen Sofia took a pass on a rather good lunch and 'family' get together at HM Queen Elizabeth's first Diamond Jubilee bash. First Cousin of HRH the DofE and a direct relly if the Queen herself, the Gibraltar situation was cited as her reason for not-going. The King Juan Carlos - himself very tight with the Royal Family - hurt himself while on safari and is recuperating from surgery.

August 1914 at the palaces again?

The Guardia Civil ignored at least five warning from the Royal Navy ordering them to leave British Gibraltar Territorial Waters on Thursday night.

In a re-run of Wednesday’s incursion, four Spanish patrol boats entered British waters escorting five trawlers from Algeciras.

Vessels from the Royal Gibraltar Police, the Gibraltar Defence Police and the Royal Navy were involved in a standoff for over three hours.

Some of the trawlers cast their nets and managed to fish before leaving shortly after one in the morning.

Utterly pathetic. If it was a spur of the moment thing, i.e. Spanish trawlers being evicted, and Guarda Civil responding to 'protect' them, I could kind of understand.
This is a pre-meditated violation of British sovereign territory, using civil vessels as a excuse.

How do you think this will be resolved? Seems pretty serious if one side is firing warning shots at the other, not to mention violating their sovereignty. What kind of international bodies might the UK have to go through to protest these actions? What can the EU do about it?

Yeah, we should close the fence as the first step of recovery for the economy.

You should know full well from Britain's encounters with the dissimilar Argentina that economic blackmail wont yield you the territory you seek

What? That would decimate the economy of La Linea. People working in the Gib finance industry that live in Sotogrande would leave. Are you for real?

Regardless of how silly it is for two members of NATO to be doing this, you gotta love the irony of the two largest former empires going at it over a dingleberry in the Med.

Andorra too? How about Ceuta and Melilla? They have big money laundering problems.
