Athens May 11, 2011. Police fired teargas at dozens of youths hurling stones in central Athens on Wednesday and a strike against austerity brought much of Greece to a halt during talks on the next slice of a bailout package.
The capital Athens turned violent with riot police using tear gas and stun grenades to disperse youths throwing stones and petrol bombs during a march attended by some 20,000 people to protest the Greek government's harsh austerity measures.
Peaceful protests in Thessaloniki. There were no reports of violence
