    Default .223 AK's / Saiga conversions

Ok. I want to get a Saiga .223 and convert it to AK-101/SLR-106 specs. What should I look for in terms of quality parts and components? What sort of reliability/function issues should I look out for in regards to a .223 AK/Saiga conversion? Any tips or techniques to employ to possibly avoid such function issues, if any?

    Thanks,

    Dan

Why not just get a AK? I have a Saiga .223 and what I did was change the stock to a TAPCO pistol grip style and added a Phantom flash suppressor. Some people will change the trigger assy and move it forward and use a AK stock. The Saiga is set up for a normal American pull length. Normally they are a tad bit short for Americans.

Also not hard to modify AK 74 mags to fit the Saiga.

I thought about just buying an SLR-106 or a Golani. But I wanted to make a project of it.

I feel kinda bad seeing as how I promised Seraosha I'd do a Golani review. Next time bud.

these guys make nice AK74 style stocks. they aren't the side-folding polymer stocks like on the 74M unfortunately. I wish I could find those to throw on my AK but I haven't seen them anywhere as replacements. http://www.k-var.com/shop/home.php?cat=251 this would be for if you moved the trigger group forward.

I've perused K-Var from time to time. That triangular side-folder is rather nice, though I'm a much bigger fan of the Tantal stock.

You may need to fix the feed ramp/bullet guide, tweak the trigger and mag release. As for parts, most AK parts work just fine.
Are you doing a full conversion?

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

I'm thinking full conversion. Though, I have thought about getting a 20" and doing a .223 Dragunov.
