The IDF uses vests, standard and custom where pouches can be attached/removed easily. Usually held by velcro and clips. The vest in my avatar is mine. I had the Canadian flag sewn in. They are great if you're doing a detail that doesn't require you to carry anything on your back, you can sit straight as well. Removing the back pouch also allows you to carry larger separate packs. I hope i'm making sense, just wrapping up at 12 hour shift. I'm sure you've seen plenty of IDF pictures here to know what i'm talking about.
