I am enjoying the game now, after a few hours of wtf. Tool me ages to figure out how to sell things (as I had stuff in my cargo and not item hanger).

    Random EVE news:

Big brawl in 0P9Z-I in the Branch region yesterday, where a Technetium tower of Goonswarm Federation came out of reinforcement.
RaidenDOT, Initiative, Ev0ke/Ewoks and PL formed several fleets with aproximately 800+ pilots in total and supercapitals on standby. Goonswarm and friends formed several fleets with slightly more bodies than us.

The objective was to crush enemy defensive fleets and kill the tower to put up one of our own. After a bit of back and forth and us already on the battlefield, the enemy finally bridged into a nearby system and started pouring pilots in.

What ensued must have been one of the most intensive and largest battles ever fought in the history of MMOs, nonetheless on a single-sharded server.
The fight dragged on for about 4 hours with several reinforcement fleets being bridged into the system. The fight was all about subcapital ships until to around 00:30 Eve time, when most of the EU-timezone was getting tired and it was clear that Goonswarm was about to lose. It was then that RaidenDOT and friends jumped in 30+ Titans to deal the finishing blow. Soon after that, the remnants of the once mighty Goonswarm fleets fled the battlefield. At peak, the local count reached over 1,800 involved players in the system.

The tower had been killed before the enemy had arrived, however, some balsy Goon Industrial was able to ninja a new samll tower online during the heat of the battle, however it was promptly shot into reinforcment and killed later.

The battle according to eve-kill: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=12408201 (very much messed up to due bombing runs and smartbombs)

    Here the clean battlerport: http://dog-net.org/brdoc/?brid=4430
One can say it was a glorious win for heroic Team Tech and a humiliation for the evil forces of the Goon.

It is **** like this that is only possible in EVE Online.
Over 1,800 nerds dishing it out in in one system over the course of 4+ hours with lots of shiny Internet Spaceships exploding in glorious fireballs everywhere.
The field of wrecks was mind-boggling.

The preperation, logistics and tactics as well as the strain on fleet commanders and individual pilots involved to organize and lead fights on this scale is what makes EVE online such a unique experience.
With games like SWTOR struggling with performance when more than 30 people are fighting at once, CCP made it possible that this fight took place without module lag and node crashes thanks to Time Dilation. Which makes epic battles like these smooth and enjoyable albeit heavily "slow-mowed" at times.

The best part is that the war has only just begun.
    /nerd wank off.

    Good read, thanks for posting!

This is why I love EVE. I think the biggest fleet battle I have attended to so far had about 500 people in total (and it was laggy as hell back in 2007 or so)

This needs a bump because now that my corp has formed it's own alliance and we now have guys who do a lot of pew pew in my time zone I'm seriously laying down the pwnage

    http://hell-killed.me/kb/?a=pilot_de...778&view=kills

    Chance of enemy survival: 1.82%
    Pilot Efficiency (ISK): 97.29%

I'm downloading EVE and am going to give it another try. I watched a few tutorials so I have a better grasp at the game.

Hehe. Nah I still don't get as many kills as I'd like. time zones are still a problem. But it's a lot better then what it was.

did you look at our alliances overall KB?

Without giving too much away (opsec) we are quite royally pissing the Goons. And those drake kills. **** me. One after the other jumped through. You would have thought after killing one they would have back off. Nope sent another solo drake, then another. ****ing noobs down here man.

    Should join us!

Yes, it's like Quantum Physics compared to other MMORPGs, but it's worth every bloody second you need to learn the game. Been playing it since 2004, sometimes more, sometimes less active, sometimes not at all, but I keep coming back. There are so many possibilities and opportunites and different ways to play the game. It's actually a dozen games in one.
