If inflation continues to increase, along with minerals becoming more scarce, when does the EVE economy crash? And who is benefiting from this high inflation, Goons/OTEC?
Look at real life, what happens when the economy crash. Throw in EVE etc, there is your answer i guess. (I wish...CCP is known for spawning themself stuff and the people they like, so the people they like unfortunatly have an advantage)
After read a lot of comments in this thread, it seems the Goons have enough ISK to take care of themselves with high inflation and even benefit from it. The lower corps and noobs have to pay the price for their greed.

It's fun, but VERY long. I like the way the story arc went, but I don't think I even reached the halfway point before I stopped playing, lol.
The cluster automatically respawns minerals, and I'm pretty sure it's in CCP's overall interests to keep the economy somewhat balanced. Goons' continuing sovereignty over large swaths of space with large amounts of valuable minerals without any noticeable CCP response by increasing minerals in other parts of the game makes me think some serious **** would need to go down before they would even consider something like that.
There is a difference between potentially available mineral supply, and the real amount of minerals available for purchase on the market, which is also modifed by the capacity of the entire chain of equipment needed to get minerals to its destination. With a higher demand for certain minerals due to strategic reasons, people will mine more of that(mexallon) which will lead to increased availability. If availability outpaces demand, the price will go down, thus 'normalizing' the mineral economy.
Increased warfare between large corps/alliances keeps the demand up, and what the mittani seems to be attempting is to keep the price of in demand minerals and components high by executing a double whammy of just cranking out ships with stuff they presumably get at costprice due to mining/producing it in-house and putting pressure on trading hubs such as jita, benefitting cartels set up by the Goons and their buddies.

The Sisters of Eve have a good storyline, the only problem is, sometimes the mission they ask you to do makes you go in a sector controlled by another faction which is at war with yours.
.ie I am Galente and I have to go somewhere to check if some infested drones are well quarantined by Concord & co, the thing is it is right in the middle of the Caldari state and the deadspace place I have to go to have Concord and Caldari vessels. So I can't go there without being blown up.
