one question: there quite a lot of nice pics in the gallery-section of www.flecktarn.co.uk

is it allowed for uk-citizens to collect firearms? or are the weapons that one can see in the staged photos of e.g. "team luftjäger" or "jagdkommando 1" only models or airsoft-guns?

    thx.

I'm quite sure they are airsoft replica's. In the UK it is prohibited to own any gun, I believe. After Dunblane, the British government came down pretty hard on private ownership of guns. Correct me if I'm wrong.

ok, that's just what i thought. although there're quite some weapons shown in these pics that seem very uncommon for airsoft-replicas (e.g. MG42/MG3 on tripod). i doubt these are working airsoft-replicas...

The MG42 is an Airsoft replica... A very expensive GBB (Gas Blow Back) one all the way from Japan . Also I recomend Flecktarn.co.uk very highly, excellent service and nice prices!

It's the only shop I know where they have Danish camo, but those prices are a bit steep imo.

For flecktarn camo I tend to shop at German online webshops, a lot cheaper and faster (I usually receive my ordered stuff three days after I've placed the order).

www.asmc-online.com and www.ranger-online.com are particularly good.

It is illegal to own any handgun without special home office dispensation (which is harder to get than good curry in the US)
It is illegal to own any semi-automatic firearm chambered for anything other than .22 rimfire without I believe a section 5 license which is near impossible to get.
    private ownership of assualt rifles?
Not impossible, but so improbable as to make it very close to it.
Shotguns require a shotgun cert. which is easier to get, but you still need a reason for owning a shotgun.
In the UK when applying for a FAC you must provide a valid reason for owning a firearm
    Home defence, don't count
Hunting, don't count if you live in a city.
Pest control, don't count if you live in a city.
Guns in the UK are not illegal. The 1997 ban was an amendment to a act already on the books that made it illegal to own a hand gun, personnally, I support it, but thats another thread.

Except for the items under "exotics", all the camouflage items are genuine issue.

M1A2U2: if you are willing to pay the high shipping fees (I assume you live in the US), I could send you some Belgian Jigsaw-fatigues. Genuine issue, and new. There's a surplus store not so far from here, and they sell the real deal. Not even expensive either! (I think you should get the pants and shirts for around 50 dollar). If you want, I could order German Flecktarn and Wüstentarn-items at the German webshops, and send the whole lot in one batch. Could be expensive, shipping wise though.

Suppose you could set me up with some CADPAT?

    Wow, that's fast

I haven't been in the shop for a while, but I'm going there one of the following weekends anyway. I'll take a look around. The Belgian Army definitely has helmet covers, mag pouches, holsters, etc etc in Jigsaw, but I don't know if they are being sold in the store. As I said, I'll take a look and let you know.

I would be *very* interested in a genuine MARPAT suit (pants, shirt and boonie). I meant CADPAT, but obviously it isn't easy for Americans to get hold of a CADPAT-suit. I've read about canadian repro's though (I believe they are made by the firm Frontenac). Would also be very interested in one of those.

UK ownership of Shotguns isn't too difficult to get with good reason - hunting, clay shooting etc., but rifles.............Mmmmm.........difficult.

I have .308 (7.62x51mm), .243 & .222 rifles for deer hunting and .22 for rabbits etc., but unless you actually own or rent land for hunting purposes, forget it. Actually obtaining a Firearm Certificate for a rifle(s) these days is very difficult. Although training/testing is not yet mandatory, most police authorities insist on it, and try telling them they can't do it - tough.

As Chris1 says, ownership of any semi-auto weapon other than .22 rimfire is banned - FULLSTOP, as is ownership of any handgun (even .22), unless you can provide good justification - ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE - single shot for humane slaughter in very restricted circumstances, hence we have no Olympic pistol teams in the UK. Rifles are restricted to bolt action, single shot or lever action - no pump action, no semis of any kind.

Even ownership of non-assembled expanding bullets is licensed - no deer/fox hunting, no expanding bullets!

    Draconian - YES!

Crimes involving licensed firearms before/after Dunblane/Hungerford = almost nil!

Crimes involving unlicensed firearms = increasing!

    I rest my case M'Lud
