Arrow The LTV XC-142 Tri-Services S/VTOL Transport Aircraft

I stumbled upon this very, very interesting aircraft on the Secret Projects forum. User Triton found the following clips on YouTube and it's worth sharing:

    For more information see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XC-142

It's a bloody shame that this aircraft wasn't introduced back in the day. I could imagine it would serve us well, even nowadays.

According to wiki the design had several serious problems with the drive shaft.

Its not a bloody shame, just common sense.

Canadair carried out trials of the smaller but similar CL-84 in the early 70s. The trials were quite successful but unfortunately lack of interest killed that program too.

They could have fixed it/improved it then. I haven't even seen an Osprey take off on such a short runway, let alone offroad!
